Closed cell would of course be the best but expensive and not exactly DIY Friendly. Fiberglass batts suck. They will work but if you're willing to spend just a little more, what you want is Roxul Stonewool. Much Much better.without a doubt the best insulation would be closed cell foam insulation, it comes in a liquid form in tanks and is sprayed into the wall cavity and expands, It is however expensive as hell,
Not installation wise. I Fucking hate thermafiber!Just plain better.
Why? I found it incredibly easy. Not installation wise. I Fucking hate thermafiber!
Try slicing it up, and stuffing it in between slip track(top track)over-head. I'm a metalstudframer(drywall/lather)by trade. I fucking hate that fucking shit! Did I say I hate it yet? LolWhy? I found it incredibly easy.
I agree closed cell is the best, but usually not practical.Closed cell would of course be the best but expensive and not exactly DIY Friendly. Fiberglass batts suck. They will work but if you're willing to spend just a little more, what you want is Roxul Stonewool. Much Much better.
Home depot, Lowes, etc...they all carry it. Easier to install. Safer. Will not absorb moisture. Much better sound barrier. Just plain better.
See my post above. For thermal insulation, foam is best.
For acoustic isolation, the cheapest fiberglass is the best. Foam is the anti-christ for sound, however. Its density conducts sound from one side of a wall to the other.
Know that insulation doesn't do a hell of a lot for sound isolation. Much more impact by installing decoupled double studs and double 5/8" drywall.
