I was wondering...I know it doesn't work when it's wet, but does it work again when it dries out?

I'm sure it does but, it seems to thin out after getting wet. I plan to reapply after it gets wet. I'm on my 3rd 50lb bag now.

It sure does

I've read that its best to apply it wet as it helps the DE adhere to the plant. Once it dries it should leave a coat on the plant.

Correct. When wet its not effective. But fumble was asking if it dries after wet will it work. Once it dries it will work again.

I was of the understanding that it loses it structure and needed to be reapplied.

I dont believe so. Manufacturers even recommend that you can mix it with water and apply it.

Post it up so we can all learn woot! It certainly doesnt lose structure when wet. I haven't read anywhere that says it will break down. You can reapply to re cover the area if wet but thIs seems to be a persons choice not because the de has broken down.

i had also read in a dr. garret artical that putting it on with a roller wet to fruit trees will keep crawelrs down . but i cant find it now.... i just assumed they came from water so water could not melt diatoms ... but i guess i am wrong as i can find no citations for it..

De was first discovered in germany in 1836. It was harvested from water and dried to use in many different applications through 1913 when dry deposits were found through out the planet. read the link.

Where does it say that it breaks down when wet? I didn't see it.

It doesn't . It states that it was originally harvested from water.

I think everyone is correct . I think it has a better chance of killing bugs when dry and with a full coat. I wouldn't want to apply it wet though . when applied dry it is heavy enough. LOL
