mini split inside???

So i want to run a sealed room with co2 and a mini split. The trouble is that it gets WAY too cold here to have one run outside during the winter...

So...is it possible to run a mini split inside my basement...with just the head in the sealed room? I run 2 x 1000w, but might go to 4 x 600w.

I currently run 2x Mitsubishi 22,500k in a small sealed room, for each one of my 10x10 flower rooms, set to exhaust once the room hits 110 degrees. This has worked flawlessly the last year and a half. Year round.

i might call a mini split manufacturer or installer and ask them to be sure. my guess is that you can.

I always kinda wondered this as well.

I live in a climate that sees colder times than -20f......

But in equipment rooms, server rooms etc where commercial mini-splits run 24/7 365 they are still installed outside (and they are not cheap.)

My worry would be that the basement room would heat up after a few hours. But then then i could either exhaust that heat outside...or bring in some cooler air in winter time.

I was just wondering if anybody is doing this already and what problems they mightve encountered...

Noise??

I do this, and have for some years now. The compressor will warm up your "lung"? room within a few minutes normally. Put an intake and exhaust 6" or 8" fan on a cooling stat, so once you hit 100-120 this turns on your exhaust & intake. As far as noise, I framed in a small area about 6x6 next to my grow space, sheetrocked the walls, tyvek, insulated. I also mounted rubber in between my fans and the wall, as well as set the compressors on slabs of rubber to minimize vibration. You can hear the fans when they kick on, but it's not loud by any means.

Just what i need to hear... thanks...

My lung room will just be the basment room that i frame up the grow space in. That room is about 20x13 and my grow space will be 10x5, so should be lots of ambient space.

So how many btu to cool 22.5k of lights?

Not that i need to know since my space is 10x smaller...lol

Just curious...

Just remember, having a huge lung room may not be the best idea. The room SHOULD be 100% sealed, as your sucking air in & out. If you don't you will have either cooler air invading your grow space, or warm air from your compressor. I'd do something smaller maybe 6x6, or 8x8. I wouldn't go larger, as it sounds like you will only be using 1 split system & compressor.

Oh wait...think i read that wrong...

Is it 22500 btu split for both rooms? For how much light?

Do you mean the lung room should be sealed too?

Sorry...just out the pipe down...lol

I can cool 8k with 1 AC, although I do not run 8k per room. I run 4kw per flower room. If your only running 2.4kw I would suggest a 18k or 16k split. It's way too big for your grow, but you could possibly grow into it as well, & will run much less often.

Seal the lung room as much as possible. hahaha. I should set this pipe down too, f*ckin stoners. I run 2 rooms, 4kw each. Each split is 22500 btu. These ac's are way too big for my grow, but I purchased bigger so I could expand in the future.

Well now it's time to start shopping... for mitsubishi i guess...lol
Gree and Freidrich are decent systems as well for about half the price. There compressors are noticeably louder though. Definitly be looking at the outside compressor sound ratings while shopping. If you have the money go for a Mitsu, you won't be disappointed.

I am trying to find a decent split unit. I have my own thread started, sorry to invade. I have been looking at Pioneer mostly because I could not find much about Gree or Fredrich. I feel so lost and helpless trying to figure out a cheaper system than Mitsubishi!

Read the warranties that come with the system. Most of them will void the warranty if it is not in a well vented area! If you need heat, most units have heating cores also... You will need a special heating unit if it gets in the negative degree digits outside.
