Humidity Problems

My grow tent's humidity is quite low and I've tried different methods on raising it. It's usually around 15-20% sometimes 40% if the air outside is humid. I tried the damp towel, cool mist humidifier, and just leaving a bowl of water in there too. I can't seem to reach the proper humidity levels, which is around 40-60% for veg. My grow tent is a 48x24x60. I also have two inline fans one for exhaust and one to bring fresh air inside the tent.

Stop worrying about the RH. Low is fine. High is a problem. Basically, if you have a really low RH, your plants will drink the water from their pots much faster than if there was water in the air that they could drink. I usually have a low RH (about like yours) and I never have problems except for they drink like Marines. You can get a spray bottle and mist them twice a day like clones if it makes you feel better, but it is really nothing to worry about.

On a side note, when they are almost done, if the RH is really low, they will grow big, fat trics to cover itself in an effort to preserve moisture. Low RH in flower is your friend!

Oh! Thank you for the reply haha. How often should I be watering my plants? I'm using Fox Farm Grow Big for Veg as of right now. Should I feed them nutrients every time I water? or switch it to clean water every other watering?

Water them when they are dry. I alternate between food and water. Keep in mind, if you give them too much food, you will have salt buildup on the roots. Try to incorporate blackstrap molasses in your water to help dissolve the salts. To be honest tho, it sounds like you have about a weeks worth of reading ahead of you before you move forward on too much else.

Oh I've been doing tons of research on how to grow cannabis. I just like gathering different types of information from different growers so I can incorporate into my grow. I've watered my plants only when the soil is dry about an inch deep.

I have been growing for 20 years and I still spend hours reading up on it daily. I stand by my original statement tho. In particular, focus more on soil mixes and nute lines. If you are comfortable with multiple aspects of growing, than this is where your focus should be.

You can get a humidity switch to control a humidifier. It's called a WillHi WH8040. I bought one for controlling a fan in a drying cabinet. But, it can be configured to turn on (or off) a humidifier. It has some features like how much humidity difference must exist between on/off. Or, how much time should elapse before cycling on/off.

All of them require water. If you buy a cheap one, you will be filling it several times a day.

I have a cool mist humidifier that fills up to two gallons. I guess my fan is pushing too much fresh air inside my tent to actually raise the humidity levels.
