RO system questions

So I have been looking into purchasing an RO system. I am currently going to Walmart w 5gal Poland spring bottles and filling up 7 of them every 10 days or so .... But we are expanding are op to the 3rd floor w another veg room and another flower room with another expansion down the road of another apartment with same set up ... So I was thinking an RO machine w 50 GPD capability would work out ... So is this gonna cut it? Or do I need 100 GPD secondly do they hook up to your sink how to do you install them ... And finally can I switch out their 4 gal container with say a 55 gal drum and then add a pump of some kind and fill up 3 5 gal buckets whatever I need to mix in as need for feeding/watering

Sometimes even if rarely there’s a good use for it.

To answer all your questions......yes.

RO 50 gallon will put out max 50 per day. You can get accessories or they come with garden hose thread fittings, which would fit a laundry tub faucet, or on a normal faucet you can take off the aerator and screw on an garden hose adapter.
One drain line.

You'll want an auto shut off float valve for the 55 gallon drum so it doesn't over flow.

For your intents and purposes (50gpd-100gpd for plants) all RO systems are generally the same, but make sure you get one that takes non-proprietary filters (standard 2.5 prefilters). The ones at Walmart and Box stores seem to all be proprietary.

Don't get a RO/DI system as its unnecessary.

Thanks for the info def kind of a waste of money after finding out how much they cost and talking to a rep about one ... I was just being paranoid about people giving me weird looks at Walmart filling up hella 5 gal Poland spring jugs but fuck those fools people do own 100 gal fish tanks ... What I do with my water is no body's buisness but my own ...

So you think a 100 dollar ro system is a waste of money, but going and filling up 5 gallon jugs of ridiculously over priced spring water isn't?

I payed 140 for a 3 stage ro filter with a float valve. Filters will be good until next January.

They don't cost much... I paid $75 for a 150 gpd portable system and upgraded it to a 300gpd system for $50. It puts out a lot of waste water, which is normal, still cheaper than running to the store to fill up containers. Replacement filters might cost $75 a year....

Purewaterclub.com had the cheapest systems I've found and spit out 0ppm water. Plants love it.

I fill up the jugs with RO water it's about 11$ for 30 gallons ... No it's not expensive ... It's the ppl staring at me and some comments that were made last time I was there that had me paranoid .... reverse osmosis super store had a rep that called me and he said it would be 279$ for a 50 GPD system plus another $536 to upgrade to a 44 gal pressurized tank plus another $150 for a pump that I needed to get also....so ya $900 is a lot of money for a water system to me ya

I feel ya, I used to have to go to the HYDRO STORE like almost everyday to get 25 gallons of water. That was a huge fucking red flag......... So I just got a little RO setup under my kitchen sink now and even though its slow as shit to fill up it works perfect

Ya I just looked at the pure water club website and it's so much cheaper it makes it viable for me right now when I'm struggling trying to get shit off the ground and get investments back ... But in 2-3 months I'll have 2 harvests and I'll be in the green (no pun intended) and then it will all be worth it and I won't be stressing so hard everyday anymore

This company is trying to rip you a new one. 44 gallon pressurized tank? For 536$??

That's ridiculous, you need nothing more than the ro system, a 50 gallon container,and a float valve. All of which cost me less than 150$..So that's a 9th of the price.

I used to lug around bunches of water back and forth from different places because I got so paranoid and it sucked.. I burnt up gas and all the time I spent going to get water could've been spent doing better things...

These days my ro is set up to my float valve, which kicks on anytime my water goes below 17 gallons. I always have fresh water right downstairs

Any advise on airstone or something similar to keep in the tank ( I plan on using a 55 gal drum) And or pump/ faucet to ad to the drum?

Theirs so many options it all depends on what ya need. Look up "commercial air pumps" on ebay, browse away and you'll find something.

As far as the valve/faucet, Just install one at the bottom of your drum and elevate it high enough to fill up whatever you need. My 36 gallon sits up on a cabinet. I can attatch a 1/2 inch hose to the valve and run the water to wherever I need. Using pressure is pretty neat.

You can also just use a water pump. But I don't have an electric source near my water source and I like using pressure a lot more

Hydrologic is a trust worthy brand of RO's. Just know when using RO u must add calmag back to the water or it will strip your plat a of nutrients. If your tap water isn't bad, it's an unneeded cost now and later when u have to use 5ml/gal calmag forever.

Ya thanks I'm already using RO water and I use 2ml/lt cal mag every watrring and haven't seen a cal or mag def since I switched from tap to RO
Side note: I hate when ppl say I have a "cal mag" deficiency
