I don't know why 24/0 became part of this discussion. Your plants should be further along at 3 weeks under 18/6. 24/0 won't fix that.I have no opinion because I don't know shit.
yeah, az2k, it's called gas light breaking something or other. it wasn't done for weed but i think flowers a long time ago. they would use a reddish light or icandescent for an hour during the dark cycle. it would start/keep the plant producing the flowering hormone and be ready to flower at a moments notice so to speak. never tried it but i have read some stuff on it from how it was invented and why it worked etc.I don't know why 24/0 became part of this discussion. (I run 18/6. It's good enough for me. If/when you experiment with longer light intervals, also investigate something called a "flower initiator." People give 5-10 minutes of this 720-730nm far red LED light when lights turn off. It puts the plant into a mode that it normally takes a 1-2 hours to get into. This lets people run 13/11 in flower, getting an additional hour of light and presumably growth/development.
That's not my thing. But, it fits into the premise behind 24/0. Something to play with if you ever want to.).

Yes. That's where it came from.oops. also i suggested it b/c he was getting too cold of temps during lights off for proper veggging

Artificial Lights
"Under artificial light the photoperiod is, of course, any length you wish. The most popular way to grow with artificial lights is the harvest
system. Start the plants under long light periods of from 16 to 18 hours daily. After the plants have reached a good size, usually between three and six months, shorten the light cycle to about 12 hours to force flowering." - 1992
** tbh both Ed and Jorge have said different things over the years, and in each different(numerous) Books they have published, and I've read a few other the years..even got that DVDs..Very few places get 24hr daylight and the plants of region have probably adapted over years and years, Now I'm NO expert(at anything) and have tried 24/0 and 18/6 for me its 18/6..even when I do Autos.. down to the Grower and his/her preference tbh, but when Plants do get a dark period they are still doing stuff and using up stored energy and so on..
idk? each to their own eh...
@ Camo Hat, All the advice you've been given is pretty much spot on, but don't get bogged down with trying to do too many things as once, lots and lots of changes will just cause more unexplained problems...one of the 1st things I was told was K.I.S.S ~ keep it simple stupid...

Your telling me the plant doesn't grow in your 6 hour dark period?Yes annuals do appreciate a dark period in its daily light cycle. But to say the dark/lights off time promotes roots growth is just ridiculous. The more natural light cycle promotes more overall benefits, both above and down below...
No. Annuals pretty much grow night and day, above and below ground pretty much at the same rate.Your telling me the plant doesn't grow in your 6 hour dark period?
. Aren't all strains annual? No. Annuals pretty much grow night and day, above and below ground pretty much at the same rate.
I've moved the lights up about two more inches.3 weeks from Germination. It looks perfectly fine to me using CFL Light. Nothing to worry so far apart that they are a bit overwatered. Next week (7 days) you can start feeding them. they are not tall coz CFL are pretty close to them(bushy). if height is not a problem for your room put light a bit higher they tend to strech more(tested myself). have 1 same age as yours, under 2*20w CFL 2Inches away, similar look as yours

I won't say I disagree and I wont say I do either. I have my second grow going now,(my first grow a year ago was destroyed by in-laws. >.<) maybe 4-5 days from harvest now, and she (1 lady only) has been under 300watts of cfl power for her whole life. during veg, she shot up quick and healthy. now im most of the way through flower and already cut a few branches that seemed to finish before the others. the rest will be cut in a few days probably but my point being: im doing all organic soil mix, indoor, 300w cfl, and my lady is doing amazing. all the nugs look like nice sugar coated christmas trees with tips poking out the sides of the buds even. she looks incredibly healthy and very very sticky. and yes I say again ALL CFLs. although keep in mind I got 300 watts on one plant, but she seems to love it! this grow was very impressive to me and a learning curve because this lady came from a bag of totally random seed but she turned out great. I suppose it goes to show that its not just all about genetics. give her the right environment and she will perform to the best of her genetic ability... reminds me of learning about human psychology and the nature vs. nurture argument. you just can't understand biology, outside the context of environment. im going to be planting her clones outdoors this season and the next indoor I do, as well as the CFLs did turn out this time, I have used HPS on my last grow and I have seen the difference so Ill be putting up my lamp next time but its good to know cfls can do the job if you need them to. Just sayin, CFL is not all that bad and I still believe its a great budget grow option. I think when it comes to CFL its all about wattage/plant ratio and spectrum.IMO the bottleneck would be the CFLs...
They'll take off soon enough, tht burst of growth from veg is right around the corner - but i wouldn't expect incredibly fast growth w/ cfls...
IDK about feeding them already. What's in your soil?
oh yeah u can definitely grow good weed w/ CFL's, its been done countless times, but U can't expect growth like you would from HID's imo. Was just saying if he's looking for faster growth, moving on to MH for veg might be a considerationI won't say I disagree and I wont say I do either. I plan to see this through until the end ! I've never given up on anything in my life.Everybody knows something Cam, and everybody starts somewhere init..Have patience and just keep reading what you can, plenty of Info, and some pretty helpful folks on R.I.U.
Give it 6-12 months of Growing, Learning, Growing some more and You will feel a lot more comfortable with the whole thing...though once You really get into it, and have the Basics nailed down, then You will begin to find even more things that you can do with this Plant..I'm still Learning new stuff everyday...everyday..just depends on tha Grower and How far you wanna take things in pursuit of well not even perfection(which I'm a long way from) but just Great Tasting Weed and Good enough Yields to keep You happy...

Don't give up now, once they start getting Bigger you will be "Lovin it" it can be very relaxing and rewarding...
