Looking for advice on retro fitting 10 led units

This is my first post here, so I would just like to thank you all for some great info and ideas that i have gained since joining.

I have a few of these office lighting units, and was wondering if these drivers are any good to run some better, more powerful cobs. Not a problem if not, as I'm fairly certain i can change the drivers and led's and just use the housings, and might even try the lights as is for my small mother room.

Though as they were free, if would be nice to be able to use the drives, but its all a bit gobbledie gook to me, so just seeking a little help from you experts.

Any advice on what potential these have as is, or what to retro fit them with would be great, and apologies if this has been covered before, there is so much good info here that i think i might of overloaded myself with options lol.

They will end up supplementing some 250w hps lights in a flower room and being used in a small mother room.

Bottom line is, what would you do with these units ?

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and any advise on there possibilities will be greatly appreciated

These drivers would be a pretty good fit for CXB3590 if you can fit it in. Not sure about the heat sink, looks too small. Can you try to estimate the area of the HS?
What CoB is inside BTW?

The heat sink is 200mm by 150mm by 40mm deep, unsure what COB as only part i see is image 2 and 5 relating to the COB, I will see if i can take more apart and see if i can find out.

16 fins, right? That would make the area of about 3100cm^2. Being anodized black, I'd say that it can handle a 3590 at 700mA with reasonable temps. Hell you'd able to replace a 250W HPS with 2 pcs of such fixtures :)

e: This driver is pretty cool. It does even have +12V for a fan!
e: If you're actually able to fit in a top bin CXB3590, you'd boost the luminous flux from 2000lm to 7500+lm.

Thanks a lot for you're advice :-)

A CXB3590 is 38.85mm and the current led board is 60mm and the casing 80mm and a total workable space on the back of the HS is 110mm by 150mm

Would it be as simple as swapping over the philips unit for a CXB3590 ?

Im new at this so please bare with me lol

The CREE has just 2 wires where as this unit is showing 5 to the led unit ?

I see. Rebels and remote phosphor. Interesting, I couldn't see it in the original photos.

Electrically, it's just a simple swap. You'd use just 2 wires - black (!!! + !!!) and yellow (-).

Mechanically, I can't say as I've never seen that light in reality. The original LED engine seems to be much higher than 3590 (which is flat).

Yes, its in a box 40mm deep, but remover able, and the shade will still be ok for a flat COB I think.
Do you think there is much use using a couple as is, while i await parts, as I'm small scale, and the
current veg box runs off of 56w of T5

So should I go for

CXB3590-0000-000R0HCB30G

for both veg and flower? I'm a little cheap :-) and this is just a hobby
so is it worth it for me to get those instead of

BXRC-50C10K0-L-04

Vero 29s

But if the CXB are a big step forward, it is prob worth the money as I am saving on the drivers and casings as is.

I'm thinking of just doing 4 of the units for now, 2 for the flower box and 2 for the veg box.

Also is digikey a good place to source parts ?

Sorry for the questions ;-) but very pleased that it seems possible to use white
led's as the murple colour was always off putting to my old eyes.
I like to see what the plants are up to with the shades of green i recognise.

Thanks again for all you're help so far :-)

I'd say go big or go home. The 72v CXB would be an awesome fit in there.
Agreed. CXB3590 can get you about 48-49W @ 49-50% efficiency. Vero29 can get you 25W @ 44% efficiency. Vero29 v2 can get you 25W @ 47% efficiency. Only with higher voltage COB you can fully use that driver and HS.
Digikey is fine but they have slightly higher prices and unfortunately no CXB3590/Vero29 in stock. Check out this thread for sourcing from China.

So while I await stock, I have been having a look at these lights, as i have 10, and am only going to retro fit 4 for now I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the LED's they already have

D20 R210led 2000lm 36w dali

Is i believe the led unit (cob?) (array?)

As you can see in the previous pics and in the below, taken with the light on through a wielders mask, there are 16 led's held behind a yellow disk
With out the disk they are blue, and seem to have plenty of UV as some clothing looks a bit clubbie under it :-)

Just wondering if they were any use as is, while i wait. Using them side by side, one with the yellow disk (remote phosphor) off, and one with the disk in place, as shown in the last pic, the over lap is very murple...

Thanks again for all the input so far, this place is a gold mine, thank you.

Those little units are pretty cool. How big is your flowering space?

I wouldnt waste those on mothers too much light and they are great plug n play units for a 72v chip.

If it was me id make a lamp out of 8 x cxb3590 3000k
with 2 x as is in the middle

X = cxb3590
B = uncovered blues

...X....X....X
X...B.....B...X
...X....X....X

Cheers!
