Just used ph down for the first time

Any advice on how to use this stuff?

I was seeing a massive shift in ph from 1ml in a 10l bucket... should it be diluted before adding to nute mixes? is it just something you get used to based on your nute mix? Is it better to work on larger volumes?

I add about 5ml to 35 gallons of water to lower around .75 to one point. It doesn't take much. Make your mix, find the ph. Next time, ph the water down before you add the nutes and you will be good to go.

My ph down and ph meter arrive tomorrow. OK, ph before nutes. I had read to check after adding nutes. Thanks.

It has been my experience that nutrients tend to lower the ph. I have never had to use ph down EXCEPT to run straight water, Having said that , I grow in dirt so it may be different, I guess my question would be why ph down B4 adding nutes, when the nutes will definitely change the ph?

I ran into this problem too. You absolutely have to figure out how PH down affects your plain water. I've also found that the amount of time after you apply the PH down plays a factor as well.
Fill (5) 1 gallon jugs with plain water. Add 1 ml of PH down to the 1st jug, 2ml to the 2nd jug and so on. Shake vigorously and take measurements in 5 minutes, 15 minutes and 30 minutes.

Break out your note pad and take notes. You need to know how many ml's of PH down it takes to lower 1 gallon of water 1 whole point.
My 2 cents for what's it worth.

I have pretty good well water and for me, 1 ml per gallon is what that number is.

Edit: What I strongly urge you to do after you establish what your requirement is per gallon is to break out your feed chart or whatever you use and mix up a gallon for each stage. Apply your ph down and remeasure. I can't speak for all nutrients, but my nutrients lower the PH *but* not until I hit the late veg/early flowering feed schedule. Early veg feeds dont really drop the PH at all but the aggressive flowering feeds drop it considerably.

It take very little of either ph down or up if you ph is about 6.5 you will only need around .5ml to as little as a few drop . Fill your rez with water and nutes give it around 30 mins to stabilize , take a small sample of the rez and test ph start with a few drops , I use to let it sit over night and test again in moring . Then add if needed . I say use to because this last run I haven't phed one time and haven't noticed any issues yet and I'm on day 35 scents I put the seed in the rapid rooter plug , and my flower nutes with my Ro water stablize out at 5.8 on there own but again a few drops at a time brother and give it time to stablize good luck
