4 weeks clones still not rooted yet?

So for test purposes I took a clone for first time, I did nothing I planted it straight into soil, it went down and looked dead, it came back up again after few days, now it's been 4 weeks and only opened up 2 small leaves but just checked today and pulled it out of soil it had no roots STILL, think it's actually over 4 weeks.
I've cloned other plants before (not cannabis) and put them directly in water and they've rooted fine but this one I did directly into soil no gel.

Why didn't you put this into water directly?

Dropping a clipping directly into soil reduces your chances of success significantly (like to 0%).

Are you testing something? It doesn't seem so, or else you wouldn't be questioning here on RIU.

Well I was having this debate at the grasscity forums which to mention they're bunch of scum bags over there, and they were trying to force me to buy cloning gel and hormones saying you can't clone without them or cloning machine so they told me my best chance was to do it directly into soil. Can I just say they haven't died they look tip top condition despite their 4 week age and no roots, would you like a picture? is it too late to move them to water now?

Pics help.

I use an aerocloner, per my sig threads. That said, I just posted yesterday to someone else that I know two people (personally in real life who are large medical growers) who for years have only cloned in clear cups of water.

I *never* use gels, hormones, pH up/down or anything when I clone.

Putting a cannabis cutting directly into soil without significant preparation is asinine, as is someone selling you gels and shit for cloning in plain water.

It sounds like someone from a company who sells magic grow formulas wanting to punt you a 30 bottle nutrient solution.

This is all imho of course.

What do you advise me to do? take them out? I don't have any kits for cloning, should I take them out and put them in water then? Also how has it managed to stay alive for 4 weeks without any roots? im amazed.

Clones can stay alive for months with the right humidity etc, but you can't expect them to grow larger.

If they haven't rooted in the dirt, it won't hurt to put them into water.

There are no pics, but even still, I can assure you that they won't stay alive forever without growing any roots.

Yu can clone in straight soil thou. I do it from time to time. It takes awhile thou, and obviously isnt guarentee. Try putting a plastic bag over the plant and misting the bag (not the plant) and give it more time. If it doesnt root, its jus 1 clone. I assume yu have a bigger plant said clone came from that chu cud try again with? Either way if its not dead, yu can still root it, but as spek said, it wont live forever >.<

It's currently in flower so I can't clone now :(, I've put it in water now fingers cross it will work now, I'm so gonna be behind in schedule now as I wanted my plants to be the same age/size :(

I've put clones directly into dirt and then I water with a light solution of water and cloneX. Worked fine for me.

If they haven't grown roots, take them out of the soil, cut at a 45 degree angle a new end (1/8-1/4" above where they cut) and then take a razor blade and scrape off the outer layer of the stem (up to about an inch or so) before putting them directly into tap water.

Good job :) I'm glad it worked out. Note I'm not arguing against this practice, I'm just saying that after growing thousands of clones in numerous situations, that isn't the optimal solution in many cases, specifically given the OP's dilemma.

OP's roots aren't growing at all here.

Done I will leave it under 14w CFL 24/7 now until it roots.

i remember one day i cut 3 clones put em in clonex, grabed some 707 soil in small pots grabed a transparent bucket spray it inside (used as a cover) and covered them and they never welted, roots in 8 days i guess it was good genetix because my next attempt it was a difrent strain and those cloned died within 4 days. so i stick to my old method. the bucket u see on my Attached file the bucket has water just enough to create a bit more humidity under the box. seems to work better for me.

Maybe because I didn't do 45degree cut and trim the stem skin had something to do with it? no?

UBC Chemo clone, 19 days in pure tap water only (7.0 pH, 140 PPM). No gels, no magic bullshit anything.

WTF :/ i'm shocked that is freaking amazing, btw, I've sort of been using water without PH meter and now have 2 beautiful healthy flowers, what I want to know is, is it 100% necessary, not to sound like a douche I just spent a lot and don't have much money left at the moment, I appreciate your help so far.

I aeroclone just like spek, i use bennies in my cloner, but thats just to battle any bad bacteria and give roots a little food. Best way to propagate in soil as i have to do it sometimes, is to cut the stem down to at least 3 nodes worth on top, tip the leaves, even the little tiny ones, gently shave 2 inches off bottom of stem , split the stem down the middle up about a half inch or so, dip it in HORMEX its the best powder IMO, keep clone wet, wet ,wet for a few days, keep RH high around clones or stick in dome, they root best around 81 degrees.

After I pot my clones, I definitely pH my water/feed. I use a $14 meter that I've dropped off of my 15 foot balcony onto concrete, and after two years, it's only been off by 0.1 of a point when I calibrate it. In soil, I pH to 6.3-7.0, and in my small hydro setups, 5.6-6.2.

I'm also fortunate enough to live in the mountains, where I have access to 0 PPM glacier water whenever I want :)

I was just proving a point that you don't need to buy shit to clone. You can absolutely trust me when I say that.
