Excellent way to harvest homemade EWC.

Happy Friday fellas (and ladies)
I forgot to share my new method of EWC harvesting, previously it was such a pain in the culo I hated it.
BUT, my girlfriend came over during Christmas, and being the adorable crafty-type girl that she is, she left a plastic needlepoint screen thingy here.
Anyways I stole it... :hump:
made a cylinder shaped thing, like the size of the oatmeal things they sell at the store, one side is closed the other opens, and the hole size is perfect to ONLY allow EWC through, not cocoons and not juvenile worms.
The plastic needlepoint.
took me about 30 mins to make with reg green wire ties to make it tighty-whitey.
So if you are like me and hated to filter the EWC, try this, it works great AND the plastic is nice and smooth as to not piss off the worms as you shake it.
Sorry, no pics... you can thank the mandatory windows update that F$%ked up my windows. Now I can't post pics on this site.
Anyways, thought i'd share, it works really well.

Can you upload I t some were else or show a file I need.to harvest my ewc amd just thinking of it and looking at it give me a headache

hmm, I may be able to pm you the pic on grasscity, its just this forum that blocks it, but i'm leaving work now so it'll be on monday, but I can take some good pics for ya over the weekend. Not to mention I wanna show off my purple paralysis pheno, that thing is goin nuts!
Just roll the plastic needlepoint up in a tube, like a gigantic joint.
then get a plastic circle to attach to the end, wire it in with green wire plant ties, the other side you keep open, fill it half way with vermicompost, then for the top I used a disposable Ziploc plastic container,( the ones they sell at the store) for the lid, then you hold th top on as you shake over a bag or a smartpot.
presto, takes about a tenth of the time as normal.

that's why the plastic needlepoint works so well, it's very smooth.
This method is great for smaller grows, and smaller wormbins, people that need to keep their worms in the wormbin as opposed to the soil.
Which is what I do anyways, I add a good handful or two of unscreened vermicompost to add cocoons and such.

I hear ya there man, sifting EWC is a bitch, but this method you could get a 5 gallon buckets worth in prob 10 mins or less.
I imagine if one were to make some sort of mechanical or electrical tumbler, like a rottiserrie type of thing and you could harvest EWC super fast and effective.

Nice method.

I've long been over harvesting ewc, I too shovel or grab cups filled with ewc. I noticed the little worms and eggs that get scooped up, make a home and feed from the canna mulch, old roots, small food scraps and the top dress I occasionally add. Sometimes I'll catch them under the whole Damn fabric pot lol, but they eventually die. Eh got thousands more in my 5 large totes

totally, I see reds under my pots too, but I threw a big ole handful of pure unfiltered vermicompost in each of my no-tills.
Weird how they get out though, I imagine them scaling the smartpots to go overboard.
The native earthworms are really good for pots, they "dig" a bit more than the compost-reds, good for no-tills

You were saying you were gonna do some EWC harvesting...

cool.. it's actually pretty easy, and it's the BEST to minimize any worm/cocoon loss.
I'm gonna take a BUNCH of pics of my ladies, now that my damn comp will load load them ok.
The gorilla glue #4 is going nuts.
actually all my ladies are going nutso, except the tutuankhamon, and my mystery plant (lost tag for it)
hell even the anesthesia and the mango kush are starting to look preeeetty great.

I wish I could get a cut of the gg#4 or any clone only strain... instead of hoping for good genetics from seeds it would he much easier that's for sure
