You're thinking of a Agave plant ;-)
Aloe bloom every year..
I was going to mention that they were talking about the agave plant as well. My neighbors had a huge one across the street when I was growing up and is flower was cool.

I've had this aloe for years ads it's never flowered. Though I did transplant it last year and over the course of the summer it grew about 5x the size it was previously. I guess this is what happens when provided with the appropriate soil mix and a big pot. It's in a 4-5g now and was previously in a .5g .

Heck yeah I just covered a compost mountain. :) I grow mushrooms and recycle my indoor soil as well and have goats and chickens, so am building piles. New house, so haven't made permanent compost areas yet. I'm also doing 12 300 gallon pots outside and will start rotating that and my indoor and get away from buying dirt. Can't wait to ditch the plastic bags. I make about 100 cubic foot mushroom sawdust bags every week. P.S. I'm jealous that you're starting veggies.

Back in the 80's when I lived in Oregon one of my Hippy neighbors would have big piles of compost and would mix it in to their veggie garden.. That was all they used for fertilizer, they never applied anything else.. They had corn that was 12 foot tall and everything produced mass amounts of veggies.. Of course they always had a few pot plants in the garden, it was oregon, we all had em.. One year they grew a skunk plant that was the best I ever had. He took his family of five to Hawaii for two weeks from the money he made off that plant.. I have a pic. Of it somewhere, I will see if I can find it.. It's one of the old instant print pic. where the camera prints the pic. Out soon as you hit the button and then you sit there and watch it develope rite before your eyes.. Wow I dont remember what I smoked tonight but I am rambling on.. Sorry..
