If you think you can do better, start your own company. Or, maybe that's what you're already doing? That explains this thread trying to discredit A51. Whatever, good luck.Does anybody know what's up with Area 51? Everytime I look on their website they have different lights. I was considering a few Area 51's with the white spectrum but they're not listed any longer. Info seems hard to come by but they're lights get great reviews.
I agree, the business side of Area 51 seems dysfunctional. One day it's this, the next day it's that. Today we have this policy, tomorrow we don't.
I already know that A51 makes a great light. I never disputed that. The quality is great. No argument.
However, I do feel that the guy (Jeff) who runs the place, should honor the return-customer discount that was advertised on his website at the time I made my first purchase. When I was about to order my SECOND light from him, I asked him to clarify the price AFTER the advertised discount. He told me that he discontinued that discount and, instead, lowered the prices all-around. -news to me!
That's great for every potential, new customer, but neglects the fact that I am a returning customer who purchased from him when he advertised a return-customer discount. If he lowers his prices, all-around for everyone, then I feel that I should still get an additional return customer discount -because it was advertised when I made my initial purchase. He should easily be able to track the dates of all the people who bought his lights prior to him changing that discount policy and allow those people to get the additional discount IF they want to make another purchase. Allow those people the same discount. That's the fair and honorable thing to do.
He's not losing money on me if he honors that discount. That's for sure. When I bought my SGS 160, I paid the FULL price at the time (close to $500) for it. I intended to order one of the XGS 190s and was glad when I saw that he had lowered the prices….because I thought I would get an even-better deal with my return customer discount! But, like I said, when I was ready to pull the trigger on the deal, he disintegrated the return-customer deal.
I mean, in all honesty, it's not even all that big of a deal. But I feel like I'm trying to do business with a street dealer - like "This is what it is. If you don't like it, then don't buy it." It's a way of doing business that's a bit sketchy. If it was me, then I'd honor the discount. It's only $50 less money from someone who is willing to spend hundreds more and has already spent hundreds.
You don't even have room to talk @hyroot, you're not even an A51 customer. I gave you a free light a couple years ago. Remember?
Like I said, if you don't like how A51 does things, buy something else. It's that simple. If it makes you feel better to cry on the internet, that's sad for you.
Ha, Ha So funny ! Take A free light from A51 ! Then talk shit about em! ? Are u kiddin me?
I don't know what to say to make you understand things from A51's side.
A51 never rips anyone off, never did. A51 never sends broken products to customers, never did. If something happens to get broken in shipment, it'll get taken care of, always have.
A51 is usually out of stock because more lights are sold than they are made. When it is out of stock, it's listed as a Pre-Order option with the antisipated ship date provided.
A51 must be doing something right as a company considering the volume of lights sold. Over 2000 lamps were sold in 2014. Already sold close to 900 lamps in 2015 and we just started this year. And the new lamps aren't even out yet.
People can talk as much shit as they want, A51 will always be around. Started in 2011, and has been getting stronger every year since. If 0.01% of customers are unhappy, I'm sorry.
Have a nice day!
Your website is garbage and your attitude stinks. You will fail. I'll spend my money elsewhere. If the rumor about not using Cree any longer holds true, you'll just be another Chinese junk dealer anyway. The market has a way of correcting itself so I hope your not in debt. Can you explain how "everytime you look at the A51 website, it's different lights"?
This is the timeline of all the A51 lamps for the last 2 years:
April 2013 was when the SGS160 debuted, then later that year the XGS190 was added in addition to the 160. In 2014 the SGS160 was replaced by the RW150, only difference between the 160 and 150 were the use of XTE over XPG, and later that year a smaller version of it was introduced, the RW75, and then followed by the W100.
For 2015 there is a newer, better, more efficient, less expensive lights coming out, and not just at A51. It's not practical to keep making the 2014 lights when there's so much better stuff that can be built right now.
If you think you can do better, start your own company. Or, maybe that's what you're already doing? That explains this thread trying to discredit A51. Whatever, good luck.

There's a lot of stuff made in China by foreign companies that have quality standards which aren't normally employed when the Chinese try to make it fast and cheap. What's your point?Cree makes chips in China
You do realize that "Platinum LED" is getting sued by Advanced for stealing their name and copying and pasting stuff right from Advanced's site onto yours, I mean "their's". Platinum sells Eshine lights, why do you need a middleman to buy an Eshine light?I don't have any affiliation with Platinum LED but if you look on Amazon or 420 you'll be impressed with the owner's customer service.
