Does anybody know what's up with Area 51? Everytime I look on their website they have different lights. I was considering a few Area 51's with the white spectrum but they're not listed any longer. Info seems hard to come by but they're lights get great reviews.

I bought 2 of them a month or two ago. I bet they can still get them but probably have their new models out. Email them.

Yeah, OP, I agree. I don't want either of those "red" lights he has now. I already have the 160 from 2013. I'd rather have a white light, now. I hope he brings back the 190 watt white one. I had been saving up some money for one of those last year and I was going to use the "return customer" discount. But the discount was discontinued and he just dropped the price for everyone. I mean, that's great for "everyone" -except that I was going to be buying my second light from him, not my first. So I felt that whatever he was doing for everyone, I should get the return customer discount, anyway. But, nope.

If he had honored that deal, then I'd probably be ordering several more lights from him over the next few years. But, as it stands with those two models limited to the predominant red range that he's selling now -and the discount thing (or lack thereof) I'm saving up for an Apache Tech light, instead.

BTW, my Area 51 160 is a great light!

I agree, the website is a little herky jerky and inconsistent. They seem to have a good product but make it tough to actually buy anything.

From what I know they don't have a lot of staff. They focus on getting good products for a good price with all reputable parts. They always respond to me within 2 days which is fine for me. I have 8 rw 150s in two seperate 4x4 tents. And 2 w100s in a 2x4. I just emailed them about getting a 3rd. If you haven't emaiked them yet I'll know soon.

I appreciate it.

They sold out and they're making new 10W models. A lot of folks have experienced better efficiency with the red+white over the straight white, but they're both great lights.

I wouldn't waste all that extra cash on Apache Tech. We know the electronics that go into lights and Apache doesn't justify a ridiculous markup.

Dammit I wanted to have another w100 so I had equal matching light across my tent. Cause I want 4 even plants. Bummer

I went to A51, first. I was more than willing to spend the same amount of money with them as I would for Apache tech. I know ATs are expensive, but they seem to be extremely efficient lights.

The RW lights may be more efficient than straight white, but I already have an A51 160 and it has some red diodes. I would be looking to add something like the all-white 190 to amend the 160's output…plus, I like working under white light better.

Apache Tech seems to be a very well-established company and they have people there who answer emails right away and I'm pretty sure they would honor any discount they advertise. It just makes it easier to know what's going on when you need/want to know.

I agree. The sales portion of Area 51 is lacking. I kind of get leery when a product lineup changes weekly. If they're just out of stock I get it but make it known.

I knkw it seems shifty of a51 but they are so honest and up front about every component to their lights. They are so affordable IMO. And they don't spend a whole lot on employees to deal with customers or answer a phone. I like these lights and gonna stick w the company for a while

They get their product in intervals and only a certain amount. So they post to contact them before ordering so they can make sure they have the light. These are all old lights the new models are coming out and is why the old ones are running dry. I've read a shit ton of people's info on here about them that know the owners and all their backround info and what I'm sayin above^^

My concern is that, since since he got rid of the return customer discount for the people who bought the products under that premise, then the rest of what he says might end up changing, too. Like the warranty. One of the BIG reasons I bought Area 51, initially, was the discounts and the warranty. So, I'm a bit concerned that it might all end up being hot air. Ah well…such is life. :)

I feel you. My thoughts are the same. Kinda threw me off after I ordered 10 lights now they don't have them

you have to take into account UL approval..........and for commercial growers it's mostly mandatory. I rent so I don't give a shit if the building burns down...lol.

Led fixtures are electronics products=== out with the old, in with the new..... wonder if a51 is still going with veros??? won't be the latest and greatest out of the gate, maybe the price will reflect that..

don't think that apache will sit on the sidelines and not update their chips as well..........will see, should be a fun year
