I'm looking for something advice on trimming some of my plant to let more light in. I'm a first time grower don't know much.
Defoliation has its place when experienced growers have maxed out other avenues towards increased yields. But as a first time grower, and with a plant in a Christmas tree shape (no topping, no LSTing), attempting defoliation is not advised.

take some of those branches off at the bottom dude there unnecessarily eating food. Youll only get better by making mistakes and learning. worst comes to worst youll be better next time but its really not that difficult. do research before you attempt or youll be telling deadgro you should have listened haha good luck . :wall:

Just tuck the some fan leaves, and I would clean the bottom (take pop corn nugs off) so that way the top colas get more food but since its your first grow try to look it up on YouTube so you don't messed up ! Nice first grow !:bigjoint:

As you'll quickly find out, trimming leaves off a pot plant has many different opinions on here.....very vocal opinions.

Regardless of all those opposing opinions, it's my suggestion that since this is your first grow that you leave the plant as-is.

First, you should see how a pot plant grows out naturally. You will learn much by watching how a plant decides to grow.

Second, between you and the plant.....the plant is the smartest one in the room as far as what leaves to keep and what to shed.

Third, every grower on this site had a first grow....and committed new-grower mistakes....a bunch of mistakes. Your goal is to keep the plant alive and the less messing you do with it will increase your odds you'll have something to harvest in the end.

You'll have plenty of time in your future grows to decide your own growing methods...but you have to get through your first......first.

I am glad I stimbled upon this thread I just started my s3cond grow. When I did my first grow I was blind to the facta of growing and lst. Til half way throw flower! I trimmed all my big fan leaves off amd the plant slowed way down. Finally called on a good friend for advice and he taught me to just tie the branches down and stratigecally moves leaves around amd "ttuck" them in so the buds get light! Its working great on the two I have in their second week of flower! I vote to not trim anything period!

well said lilroach ,, i agree with you.
leave her alone this time ,, all you need to do mate is open her up a lil bit without snapping branches to let the light penetrate as much as possible. what light/lights are you using? 400w/600w/1000w ? cfl's ?

your plant/s look healthy , i take it there only 2-3wks into flower.? if your thinking you need to trim because you think your budz looks small "then dont" because at that stage even under a single 600w hps the bud formation and size are approx the same as yours are now in the pics.

once you have a bit more experiance under your belt "then" try manipulating your ladies into producing heavier ,denser yields. ive got 10years under mine and im still learning , its great lol i love it.
im not up to speed on alot of things but ive managed to work out what works for me and thats what is important, if it works for you dont change it , and also what works for others might not work for you.

looks like your doing a great job keep up the good work mate...
