Working in Colorado

So after visiting Colorado on my honeymoon my wife wants to move. I'm definitely feeling it. Beautiful state with plenty of outdoor activities. Getting off subject, sorry. Anyone here work in the industry in Colorado? Trimming, cultivating, bud tending or whatever it may be. Hows the process of getting a job? From what I've read you have to have a mmed badge before applying and you have to be a resident first. Correct me if I'm wrong. Just wondering if anyone has moved to Colorado and had succes getting a job. Would love to work doing something I love. Anyways any first hand experience would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pipe dreams

Allocate moneys -> find a job that is long term and sustainable for the cost of living here in the Springs/CO ( I see Pikes Peak on your avatar)

then you can begin finding an open position as a crew member at a dispensary. Indeed you'll need a badge and a clean record to work anywhere legit

you might find it more appreciative if you come here and grow into the scene, maybe connects with genetics and getting yourself familiar with whats around and who

but I do wish you luck. Sometimes a position is easy to find, sometimes you'll have no luck

Thanks for the reply. Even if I'm still working a warehouse job we're still wanting to move. Beautiful state with tons of outdoor stuff. But of course would love to work in cannabis industry instead of warehouse. Again thanks for the reply and the good luck.

I feel what your saying but I'm past the point in life where I have to look cool lol. After living out east and now in the south. Definitely wanting the change.

I am a Midwest transplant and have been living in beautiful colorado since 2002. If I can give a little bit of advice without sounding like a dick. Please just stay home! The influx of shitheads that have moved here is astonishing! The cost of living went from being reasonable to flat out insane and frankly $9 an hour from db dispensary owners is appalling. I am one of the lucky ones and hopefully you can be too. It's very hard to standout and 100 people lined up for your shitty job doesn't sound like a good time.

This has been my thought since states started going legal, the influx of people wanting to live in a legal state is going to dramatically change the dynamics of that state. The way I see it you either needed to get your foot in the door right at the beginning, or wait 3-5yrs for things to settle.

And yeah my wife took that picture on our honeymoon. Amazing view.
Yes, you'll need a badge. Yes, that means you'll need to be a resident... for two years.

Ignore the 'stay away' attitude, small minds are everywhere, even here. Be prepared to work hard at finding work, to accept lower pay and higher living expenses.

BUT- Colorado needs good, honest, hard-working people as much as anywhere else in this country. If you love it here, by all means feel free to move here and make a go of it.

Plan your move carefully, get a day job and work hard at it, don't expect to get an industry job right away. Lots of folks come here with the idea that it's all unicorns farting rainbows and dabs (not my phrase, but I loved it enough to steal!) and end up bitterly disappointed and stuck with no plan B. Don't be like them.

Most of us are a lot friendlier than what's-his-problem above. HE did it, it makes no sense (other than one of entitlement, perhaps) to tell others not to.

One last piece of advice; when you land at DIA or drive in, go north! Fort Collins is one of the nicest places to live anywhere on the planet. I know, I've been around.

Thanks for the reply. So you have to be a resident for two years before getting a job in the industry. What about grow laws. Still have to be a resident for two years to grow?

Nope! You can start growing your six and your wife's six the minute you get here, no residency required. Getting your medical card helps when dealing with cops- and do your homework about the local pot laws, as they vary widely from one jurisdiction to another.

If you want to use HID lighting (HPS or MH), you will need a single family home or separate secure outbuilding. These are outlawed most places in multi family units for safety reasons.

Beautiful views man. I've been a grunt since i started working. I don't mind the manual labor, of course would love mmj industry though. So to be a support employee you don't have to wait the two years. Nice.

I'd LOVE to work in the industry...serious..but they wont pay me as much as I am getting now.

If a shop will pay me at least $15 starting off an hour I will work for them....and they will get a better tender than these low life non motivated tools
