I just learned the formula to calculate the yield % you get from blasts (runs)

Anyways start with by telling us your method from processing material to packing tubes to blasting to purge

Best yield I've gotten so far was 15.6% not bad in my opinion.

I used a blender to grind up everything. I use after drying trim with small nugs. Just throw it in the blender and let it do its thing (I shake mine while blending as to not powederize the material on the bottom and get it all evenly grinded) I also used a trim bin to keef all the material I grinded. After I keefed it I packed the material into the tube and then packed the keef on top of it. Used 4 unbleached coffee filters and 4 cans of butane... Got a 15.6% yield from some blue dream

how long is your tube how tightly are you packing, how many filters

I also stuff 2 filters first to prevent blow back and with that fine of material you probably don't need to pack it at all.

are you freezing your tubes prior to blasting?

Just recently got my vac purge. Had it maybe 2 weeks. Did a few runs. Still kinda figuring it out. But last blast I did was critical mass and I got it to butter up using the vac, silicone double boiler, and an electric skillet lol its my pic.

I water boil like most until there's almost no bubbles left then put in the vac at -5hg until the muffin starts to shrink. I increase the vac pressure -5hg once the bubbling starts to stop all at room temp. Until I hit -30hg pressure.

I tried using a hot cold method to purge it. And it worked wonders! I let it heat for a good while while keeping an eye on it. Once it started to bubble I would put my chamber in ice water.

The ice water bath while purging with heat increases the rate of which the bubble react to the vac. I found the bubble usually become more active when you put it in the ice water until it really starts to cool down. Then I put it back on the heat until it starts bubbling again. I don't let heat ever get higher that 120f. My tube is ruffly 14-15inches long and about 1 1/2 inches wide I pack nice and tight. With a long screwdriver to allow to to pack all the way up. Completely packed as hard as I can get it I can fit 114-115grams per run. Sometimes I freeze the tube but I usually forget by the time I'm ready after blending and keefing and packing. Nothing wasted

I guess I am confused on the ice water bath part.

While my oil is in the vac and heating, i set up my pyrex with ice cold water in it with some ice. once it starts bubbling a good amount I know the heat is getting high. Rough guess it reaches around 120-125? I'll take the vac chamber and put it in the ice water bath too start cooling/ this also makes the bubbles react faster (more bubble action) as heat rises. But this also cools it down after about a minute or so. When I put in the ice bath I turn on the pump and valve to keep at maximum vac pressure. Once bubble cease I but back on heat and again open valve and turn on pump to keep maximum vacuum. I do this repeatedly and each time you can see a decrease in the water content still in the oil. Eventually it all boils out leaving butter/ or honeycomb if its dry enough

Ah. I'm not sure. I have a meat thermometer right now. I'm picking up a laser thermometer monday. But the skillet turns on and off so I don't think it stays consistent. But the cold water idea came from a friend who was helping me study up and grows the stuff. Its supposed to help it honeycomb and well I have to say this is the first time I've gotten butter and this shit is wicked!
