I asked the same question a few months back and was directed towards what was listed above^^
Apache tech, Area 51 and onyx. Was told and came to the conclusion the a51 was the best bang for my buck. But they were also on sale then. This company is also coming out with new lights soon better than the current ones. If you don't know anything about growing as from what the guy above said makes it sound that way, then get some flourecent cheap lights an learn how.

The best there is....... is what you can afford at the time.
That's not to say that what you begin with is what you'll end with......there are plenty of links on this site that can help you find what you're looking for and answer all your questions. I started with some lights of questionable quality according to some folks on this site and then bought a light of better quality. The first were Blackstars 2 @ 180/watts the 2nd was a California light works solarstorm @ 220 watts.
The difference in the lights were quite noticeable but I got what I could afford at the time. I'm not going to tell you or recommend which light is the top of the line all I can tell you comes from the experience with the lights that I have purchased and they grow high quality smoke which is all I can ask......!

Another one to add the the list, a name brand COB commercial lamp
Vero 18s @ 1750mA http://opticgrowlights.com/120-watt-vero29-led-grow-light.html
Vero 29s @ 2100mA http://opticgrowlights.com/200-watt-vero29-led-grow-light.html

I reached out to them for a sample to test and they kindly sent me one. I verified that the components were genuine Bridgelux Veros and MeanWell drivers, which was 95% of the reason I needed to inspect it. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the lenses worked. The only downside, it was running very hot, heatsinks at 60C, resulting in 14% temp droop. The owner jumped right on that and has changed the design, larger heatsinks, thermal paste instead of pads and more ventilation fans. I will post up as soon as I get a chance to test it the new version and if it stays cool I will give it a thumbs up and the owner will offer us a discount code.

The Vero 18 version with 4000K should be about 106W dissipation, 34% efficient and cost $9.72/PAR W
The Vero 29 version with 4000K should be about 158W dissipation, 38.4% efficient and cost $8.23/PAR W <-awesome game changer for growers

If you're going to be snarky and rude better to not reply at all. It only hurts the community as a whole and perpetuates mis information.

Nothing wrong with buying leds to start. Why waste time learning the curves of inferior equipment?
hes done this before , look at his other threads , the guys jumping to deep before learning to swim buddy .... Ok

What are that guy's/gal's credentials in selling electronics, other than that they can assemble the components that create their product? Do they need any sort of certification that you know of?

I like the picture hangers. It's a nice touch. ;-)
Lol..

I think they missed the cooling thread and fried egg thread

Just kidding... Looks like they are working out the kinks.

I'd be a little pissed if I paid over a g and got a light that ran 60c plus. They need to work on quality control... Maybe start by ditching the old school lights from their site. Makes what could be a leading edge site look cheap.

But then there's amare with a pretty site but mini me cobs..

Led world has always left me puzzled..

that's what I have, a CLW 220 and I really like it, but I am only growing 4 plants in a 2 x 2. Who's that fiddler on your avatar? I probably know somebody who knew him. Most likely from West Virginia?
