Fixing passive intake questions???

I have a 2 X 2.5 X 7 tent. Air comes in via a mesh intake at the tent's bottom, and is exhausted via 4" carbon fan at the top. My two issues are.... One, the mesh intake has allot of light flooding out at night when it's dark. Also that same intake is just mesh, so I wonder if smell will leak, even though air comes in not out? Is there anything that will block the light exiting but still not interfere with airflow coming in constantly? Maybe a piece of something carbon treated?

depending on the 4 inch fan
inline is 170 cfms
metal fan blades are 100 cfms
plastic fan blades are 70/80 cfms

smell is not leaking out of the tent .......u are running negative pressure meaning the air is always coming in nothing is escaping out to make smell ......even if u have a small opening unless u have a direct wind forcing it out (the fan in the area hits and blows air out the mesh) ....that should not be a issue for u as the fan should be kept at bud height or a inch or 2 higher

as for the light exiting the tent that is always going to happen since the tent is a reflective surface and u have a light source in there (the only thing u need to worry about is light leaking in that area when it is dark cycle on photo plants ) ..........to counter this worry use green light bulbs in the area the tent is if u have to go in and work on something in the room the tent is use green light to work even if the green light gets in it will not effect the plants as it is a lightwave that reflects off green and not a usebale energy to the plant (the color u see is being reflected off it what gives it that color all other light is absorbed by it ) so if u are only making green light the plant has nothing so it is still dark to them

as for the carbon mesh mats and all u can use them if u want ............u are looking for active carbon mats they use them in filtering fish tank water so pet stores should have a supply ....ACTIVE CARBON MATS ..........3/4 months of use they need to be replaced ......to attach it to the tent u need magnets (they will hold it tightly in place but allow u to change easy and actually works ) duct tape gorilla tape will not work falls off .........doing this will reduce the speed of the air going in making the tent concave more .....it will alos increase the negative pressure in the tent drawling air from any and all pathways

last part ......if u do go with the mats they do 2 other things 1 is clean the air removing some dust and other things this helps the plant and reduces chances of mold and other troubles like that the 2nd thing is it can increase the temps inside the tent due to the lower airflow coming in

you'll have to retune your environment ( maybe) if you put the filter in take ... Temps humid etc etc

Thanks very informative! My fan is a metal 170 cfm metal blade fan with 4" carbon cannister. The environment is perfect around 72 degrees all lights on. I am confident the gorilla tent is solid with no place for odor or light to leak. That intake is my only issue. I wish I could kill the light blasting from there

make a light trap

a cardboard box with the air flowing but not the light ...... Trap it in the box with pieces of cardboard.

light doesn't go around corners .. Air does

in trying to explain it with words lol....... Imagine an empty box from above with two holes on opposite sides , then slot two or three pieces of card to stop the light getting to the opposite hole but the air still flows
