No particular order.. Its more sterile from start for an indoor op. Faster growth potential. More water capacity. Badass root growth.
Sterile? Growing pot?
Never knew they went together and I never need it
for my grows.

That's excellent information mate, thanks for taking the time to enlighten me with it.
To be honest I thought using coco coir was a complete waste of time and energy, because I read on here with probs people have and don't really see folks talking about the benefits of using it.
So how do you think it performs outdoors?
Huh? There's whole threads basically saying how COCO is the shizzzz...
I think there's a whole subforum on growing in coco

A question for you coco gurus.........I bought a whole bunch of coco from an auction but I've never grown in coco only, can I get away with using regular hydroponic nutrients or regular soil nutrients like botanicare soil formula or do I really have to buy coco specific nutrients??

You can use regular nutrients depending upon the amount of calcium in your tap water. That's the only thing that's really unique about "coco specific" nutes. I use straight coco with dyna-grow and maxibloom and neither of those are "coco specific". If you notice a calcium deficiency just add some calcium..it's that simple.

That's not the topic of this thread, the topic is why do people use it, and if your a soil grower why would you switch.

Sweet thanks alot for clearing that up for me.......I really didn't want to buy anymore nutrients since I have a whole bunch of hydroponic nutrients just sitting around.....

I was just wondering where you formed your negative opinion about coco since it's been tried and true for years now...that's all
I wouldn't say I had a negative opinion, I just had questions and concerns about it. When you read the help threads and guys are having probs with it because of deficiencies and whatnot then of course you raise an eyebrow.
That's the whole reason this thread started, so I could hear from these guys and all the great info they are giving based on their experiences.

I use it 1/3 with my soil mix , its amazing but seems like it would be a shitload of work to run straight coco outdoors, mixing nutrients all the time , and you would have to water a lot more often. Indoors though is a different story

I all ready have to water twice a day when its 100 figure with coco it would be at least three times and with Ph'd water and nutrients not hose water

suppose if you had the time you could be spot on and grow some good herb .

I honestly didn't think he wrote it, it was obviously a excerpt.
over 10 yrs. ago, he and i were members of a small grow forum called "natures high." he convinced me to try coco, and i never went back to soil. i think i copied and pasted that info. from one of his posts. so if it doesn't look exactly like the book, it's prob. cause he was still working/editing his book. i've never actually seen the book. he may still be posting somewhere, his screen name was "glow." (clever eh, lol???)
