Simply watch your plants and you'll see it, leaves with red stems are sinks, non-red stems are sources (the solar panels) the defoil experts know to remove the sinks LOL (adding that cause this is a defoil thread) The number of sinks you see on a plant is directly proportional to the amount of nutes available in your medium. The plant stores nutes in preparation for winter, it is genetically encoded to do so and it only stores what it needs. When the leaves start to yellow, whether from the natural fade at the end or from an N def you will see that the red stemmed leaves are the ones it pulls from. All ya gotta do is watch

So going off of this ^^^ if you were to remove these fading yellow leaves with red stems, then the plant would have to resort to finding a new leaf/leaves to pull from n turn yellow right? I wonder what might happen if you didn't remove them

many nutes provide most macros in chelated form this allows uptake across a wider range of ph values
i find anywhere between 5.5 and 6.8 works fine

Very true. Nutes like Jacks Citrus FeEd and AN Sensi use chelated zinc,manganese and copper. Makes a difference IMO in that it's easier not worrying too much about PH

Yeh i do not own a ph meter haven't had one for about 18 years, pointless imo
i have always lived in a hardwater area, so tap water is always 7.2-7.4 i can guess the ph pretty accurately by the EC reading
i add small amount of pH down initially when EC is low 1.0 , but once i get them into flower with an EC of about 1.5 - 2.0 the solution will be acidic enough without any phosphoric acid additions 5.8-6.5 or so

many people seem to fuss over PH more than is necessary IMO
some growers will be checking ph daily and adding ph down or up
if it goes 0.1 either side they start to worry

this is what is printed on the back of a bottle of canna aqua vega

But, what are sinks? I've never heard of that. I use cal/mag and NFe, in sprays as supplements so I don't know where you see Cal/Mag spots.

he's not referring to spots..if you look at the fan on left of week 4 pic, you can see a slight mg def by the way the veins look within the fan:

the leaf is presenting like example: row 3, leafs 2 & 3.

And I said that is it a slight nitrogen lack, greening back up. Cal/Mag was cured by week 2.
