The Salt Test

just got my hygrometers in and put them in the tent to see if they matched that temp/humidity meter. haha none of them match. never calibrated the one in the tent so I don't know which is right. I googled the salt test and have the process down. my question is they said to use distilled water. is using tap water a big deal?

now that i think of it, i also got some 62% boveda packs. can i just put a couple packs in the ziplock instead of the salt and see if the meter reads 62?

That's what I do. I use Excaliber IV meters (about $18-$20 on ebay). They have a calibration setting, you can bump it up or down 1% at a time.

Also, distilled vs tap for your salt test probably has more to do with how much minerals are in the tap water, the interference of high levels of minerals with salt? If it were me, I'd use distilled. Or, at least RO (unless I knew my tap water was less than <100ppm).
