Mail seized?

Looking for some feedback if anyone has any insight.

My friend had a buddy who was sending some seeds across the country. His buddy sent the package via USPS. 5-10 minutes after leaving the post office he was pulled over by a state cop asking questions about the contents of the package. He was honest with the cop and told him about the illegal items the package contained, which was really a quite minimal amount.

Cop thanked him for being honest. Took his information down and said IF they opened it and there was a problem they would follow up with him.

This was 3 days ago. No further contact from the police.

Tracking information for the package is showing not only acceptance of the package, but then leaving Post Office a little over 2 hours later. There have been no further updates since then. Package showed a delivery date of today, but as of yet my buddy has not had anything arrive.

If the package was confiscated, why would it leave the post office 2 hours later?
If the package wasn't confiscated, why would there be no further tracking updates since leaving the post office?
If his buddy was going to be arrested for the package, wouldn't it already have happened by now?

What is your take on this? What do you think happened to the package?

Holy shit! I just mailed my friend about a hundred seeds with no probs, even mailed it from the post office with a fake return address..I thought being in a small town the mailman would notice the fake addy and call attention to it.Tracking # didn't show...but all went well.Took 3 days to go half across the US.peace

It is truly one of the strangest things I've ever heard, but I swear it is 100% true. I am taking it here just to get some opinions on the situation. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that part of the story doesn't make any sense at all. If that did happen then they were watching and already knew what was in the package.

I've had a half pound seized before, they just sent a letter saying the contents was considered unmailable and they fucking kept it, Fuck you USPS!
Maybe a dog had sniffed it or the package just looked sketchy? Who knows

If this is true, just wait three months you might get a knock or maybe no knock, but your buddy is now being watched

That was my first thought. Either that or they just opened the package for no reason which also makes no sense. No dogs at the post office. And telling the cop right away " I was mailing pot seeds*frown*". Somebodies buddy is full of shit.

hi

ummm i like the post master for my area so i have hung out in the post office here (she helps me i give her free stuff)
so i sat in the back with her a few times i know the way the system works

1 the tracking is not always 100% ........see the postal worker when dropping it off scans it and the system updates every 15 mins but if the batteries get under 30% is stops transmitting and the info is collected when it is back on base charger

sometimes the scans do not go tho so the end of the day postmaster goes to a page and pulls it up how ever many that did not get tracked and prints out a label for the number and imputs the data by hand .............then that is updated to the system depending on the post master that can be done at night when shutting down or day when starting up

as for shipping items tho the usa mail it is a federal offense not a state so if the person is telling the truth they are looking at possible federal trafficking charges .........at this point tell that friend have a good day lose your number we are done for the next 2 years (federal cases are the ones they collect the info then storm the homes) .......so keeping contact with this person is just not a wise idea

now the other answer is the cop dumped it or took it for self and will never get in system (sometimes happens) ...........but who ever should of gotten a ticket or something just for the small amount under your states law

as for customs and detection

some places in the usa have been up graded with postal scanners.......some have x ray and a computer to id the items flagging anything with a set id for human review ..........others are sniff scanners looking for chemical or explosive or drugs (go tho a chamber and gets hit with a blast of air and the air is checked for any trace passes tho)

but those are in the massive sorting and hub centers plus set areas like congress and other places IRS for sure

u would get a letter from the post office / customs if anything was sent to u .............unless it is massive weight i know of a small town mayor getting house raided by cops someone sent 2 lbs or something to a grandmother that lives in the house (they killed the family dog)
