Whew, thank heavens it's Dankdude who's being called a marxist! For a minute, I thought it was me.

Dank, btw, I pretty much agree with what you said about leaning too far to one side showing a lack of compassion for your fellow citizen, while leaning too far in the other direction shows a lack of brains. While my personal/social beliefs are very liberal, as I wrote in an earlier post, I would not want all three branches of the federal government that way. I believe in moderation, and the separation of powers was set up, I think, to get us there. A good tug-of-war should help most of the people get the most of what they want or need.

CC I could care less about zoos, I care even less about Unions of any type... (I believe in the right to work and not having to buy your way into a job)
Food Stamps and Welfare should be there for a short time for those who are between jobs and need help to get another one.

But I also think that there should be a social security system for those who can no longer work.

Then write your reps and let them know to quit spending all of our money on BS items, non-essential items. This is their tactic....."Let's hurry up and deplete the budget way before the end of the fiscal year, on non-essential items, so we can go to the naive public and tell them that without emergency funding roads will suffer, police will be laid-off, buses will stop running, etc., if we don't raise taxes now. We're broke"
