Growing Apprenticship

Is the something available that a master grower will take in a dedicated learner aka apprentice to work for skills from a legal state if the individual is willing to work for rent food etc? Crazy idea probably but thought I'd ask?
I for one wouldn't move to another state and risk being kicked to the curb. Furthermore, as a Colorado resident, I wouldn't want to have someone live in my house and be forced to evict them (process) when they decide working for room and board is no longer sufficient reward.

Anouther thing you said.100 bucks an ounce lmfao wot the fuk kinda weed r YOU buying .........shit by the sounds of it......I live in the UK and consider myself pretty well connected all over but still 6k is ALWAYS the asking price for a GOOD kilo of smoke so carry on and say that their is no profit to be made growing a good bit of weed because I no thousands of people who would totally disagree with you and your logic....
You are getting very close to being obnoxious. Just ask me, I'll give you proof. You don't have to be that way.

Here is the Craigs List for my local area. Most of these guys will deliver locally. http://portland.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=marijuana&sort=rel

You must have a better class of MkyDeez than we do. Lol.
I happen to like McDonalds. Some people like Burger King or Karls Jr. It is the same meal in New York or in Mississippi. Clean, wholesome, gut bombs.

Smoking isn't all that good for one's health, either. Seems edibles are very popular in Colorado, and I don't think it matters if it is great kush or ragweed that goes into making edibles, it is the amount of THC.

I think pot will be fortified in the future. Tobacco is fortified with additives so that a Marlboro in New York is the same as a Marlboro in Mississippi, in the spring or in the summer.

I just find it sorta silly that we're calling McDeez a "quality meal".
That shitz nasty.

Here in Colorado, decent weed is 100 - 140 / oz on the street. A grade fetching 150 to 180 / oz if you can find it. Mostly B grade on the streets. Note, my B grade assessment is based on a very high standard.

Well, what would that high standard be? I myself like to critique MMJ ...ALOT!

It has to be mature. Early harvest nug is weak sauce and embarrasingly common on the street. This is basically potency here.

It must be clean, no pests or mildew.

It must have superior terpene content. This is basically flavor.

Aside from those criteria I'd leave it to the individual palate.

I think you're absolutely right. But, like home-brewers and micro-breweries, there will be connoisseurs who will pay more for "handcrafted" bud. Maybe not a lucrative business opportunity, but I think anyone who produces a pound or two every 3-4 months wouldn't have a problem selling it (in the future you describe) for $5 a gram to friends/neighbors who appreciate independently grown bud. $2k for a pound which might cost $300 to grow (not counting the time spent learning to grow, which I agree, is not the best use of time unless the individual is a connoisseur themselves and would incur that expense just to produce weed for their self.).

I disagree. It's difficult to determine from online conversations whether people are talking about hydro or soil, indoor or outdoor, short or tall grow, cool or hot climate, humid or dry, using ro water or tap, etc. Without some crucial context, a lot of the information found online will sound contradictory to anyone who begins learning by googling.

IMO, this hobby needs a wiki. A single, community-developed and constantly-revisable encyclopedia of everything about growing weed. You might add that 5.8 is the desired PH for growing, another might add "in hydro." Someone else might add that 5.8 is best for veg, 6.0 for flower.

Instead of little details like that spread across a billion conversations, they would accumulate in one topical reference. I know some people feel it's a badge of honor to learn the hard way. ("I walked a mile through snow every day to go to school. You kids have everything easy!"). That's fair. But, the same could be applied to forums. When I was a teen, if you wanted to grow you moved to northern california and found someone to learn from. There were none of these forums which allow you to ask questions to nameless/faceless people who respond immediately. A wiki is just taking the same concept further: structuring information for more efficient, easier access. Write once, read many.
Then just be more specific its not hard

My exact point....and as far as being obnoxious goes you seem to be arguing for the sake of it and not to prove the point......people will ALWAYS go that bit further and pay that little bit extra for a more satisfying deal meaning(quality first quantity second)and I for one defo don't need an online load of babble that you so kindly provided to make my point for 15 years I have provided the public with a service and no exactly what is needed to keep them happy (quality, weight, and good service).....

I tried and I'm completely unable to understand a thing you've said.

The times they are a changing. As pointed out there are many ways to stay ahead of the curve, grow a strain the no body else has could be a start. To get back to the original point of this thread, I have seen plenty of grows on registered organic farms with wwoofers helping out. I have a friend that hired 4 kids from the midwest that had zero experience, but they put a craigslist ad up, probably are not getting paid what they could be, but so far worked out for all involved. More bigger farms starting up all the time. Overall the quality has gone up and the price has gone down. Thanks to all the newbs there does tend to be subpar herb floating around and tons of people sitting on a hundred pounds that don't have a clue what to do with it, besides try and drive across country and get busted. Don't know the situation in the UK but stay in the game long enough and watch the medical and legalization do the same there as what's happening here. Regional relativity.

10 years ago in oregon you'd get BC bud (beasters) for32-3500 a pound ( we called it "work" because that's what you sold in order to buy what you wanted to smoke) and maybe some brick weed here and there. This market gets more and more competitive so no choice but to create quality. When I started we had to drive to cali and get clones cause too many growers wouldn't let any go ( let alone give advice), before Marc Emery went down that was the other option. Waaaay different nowadays. I'm in oregon and the dispensaries in my town are still sub par in my book, but plenty of quality elsewhere.

EDIT: more like 15 years ago

Hell I used to get 5k per lb in the 1000's of pounds per year rate, wholesale to college towns in the midwest 10 - 15 years ago. Little jews gramed it out at 35 ea. Lmao

Shits changed and only those that can produce A grade are successful.
