Kessil Club 2015

Just ebay bidded spur of the moment on a used purple h150 for under $70... Would this be a nice addition for a 1.5 square foot micro grow? Wanted to hear what people who have actually used these have to say. Seems like it'd be perfect with some cfls
 
Unfortunately I missed out on it last second because I was busy at the time but there's s few others I could still get for a good price. Hopefully I'll be able to join the club soon enough!
 
Here is a three week old bagseed given a strict regimen of one lone Kessil H150W blue light from sprout! Not bad for 36 watts of led. I will be moving the H150 out and replacing it with a H350 Deep Purple tonight, for some more intense vegging :-)

Not sure but maybe the kessil can be fixed mo? Maybe its a simple problem that is not related to drivers and diodes. I could probably look at it if you cant get it replaced for free etc.. :-)

Yes a single H150 purple is sufficient for a 2 sq.ft. area. I got one for $60 shipped on ebay once. I think 70 and up is a bit high. You may as well get a new one over $75 ;-) I do think you could even flower a smaller plant with a H150 alone. You may want to opt for a magenta H150 instead and veg it with cfl. See my pic. That is a 1 gallon pot grown 3 weeks with an H150 alone....nothing else. As you can see it has filled the pot, and ready for a 3-5 gallon transplant..... on just the H150!

So you vegged with a magenta and the more red spectrum? I always thought that would cause more stretch but she looks short and bushy like I like. Do you think it makes much difference?

Thanks for the good info, pretty reassuring since I have one coming in any day now. Best I could do was a purple for $75, I just couldn't wait anymore and was tired of losing bids last second so it was worth spending a few extra without the hassle. Also snagged a cheap 7 band 135 watt ufo (90 watt actual I'm guessing), going to be crap probably compared to the kessil but I think the trifecta of cfl, cheap ufo, and kessil will work nicely together for any stage of growth in my tiny 1.5 square foot cab. Only time will tell
 
It wasn't short, but it was a 100% landrace sativa:




I also supplemented with 4 100 watt 5000K cfls.

When I used the spinner with both types of H350s and 4 H150 purples things got crazy in veg!

Oops. Sorry. Didn't mean to call it "short" just meant to say it didn't look at strechy.

Actually my first LED was a 135 watt UFO from ebay. Apart from its size, it worked surprisingly well. Good penetration. Be sure to keep a tape handy and measure distance from tops to light, weekly. LED's will bleach, crinkle, and damage if too close! Since you have the UFO, you may consider using the Kessil H150 purple as side lighting. There is a YouTube video on how to use Kessil horizontally. Remember, 18" down to 12" is recommended for H150 ;-)

If mine is good quality too then I will probably do the same, its brand is "Xen Lux" i think some people use them on here. I just finished moving the cfl fixture in anticipation of the leds and I'm not too happy with how much space it takes up now so it may get the boot. Kessil should be here any minute now so I'll post some pics once i get it set up.

Thanks for heads up on the bleaching wasn't completely sure if it would be powerful enough to do so
