Which leads to the grower getting ripped off because he can't stand the idea of anyone else earning a buck off 'his' weed.

That's wild. But I understand. Know many of growers here who try to do the same thing. Sell pounds for 4k, lol what a joke.
Gotta leave some meat on the bone for the next person. Or it just isn't worth it. It must be looked at like any other retail business.

You can go see a dealer 140 an o. You can go to his guy for 250 QP. Or I can go to the chicos they get it from for 600 a p.
A middle man is any one between the producer and user.
Oh and op. Don't they teach this at the academy or at least let you ride with a cop that knows what they are doing. Do your homework before any under cover work or you might have a short career.
leads to a lot of .9ers and such but thats how it is in little restricted northern canadian communities
i dont buy from people i just know how it works here ...

In LA the middle man who makes the most money is a weed broker. He connects the growers and extract artists to the dispensaries. A broker might make several relationships with multiple dispensaries, so all a grower needs to do is sell his product to the broker who KNOWS where to get rid of it all...Same goes for concentrate artists...Not always easy or fun to get rid of a couple pounds of concentrates in a day if you don't know 10 clubs willing to take a few ounces each...Thats where brokers come into play.
I don't think we have middle men in LA anymore, not unless someone is buying it for their 75 y/o mother or grandmother who is unwilling to go to a doc for a 3 minute visit to get a rec.

u are the guy that knows something ..........u never touch the weed u never touch the cash (their deal is between them)
now as for your payment the person u helped out can offer u some cash or weed ........and the same thing goes for the person that helped out the other guy
that is all it is a guy with info on who has what and who will part with what
i played middleman for years made a nice living off it in teen and early 20s .....hell for 3 years i did not leave my house ppl came here with everything i needed parties every night ran the house for 7 years before that my older brother ran it for 12 years after me my little brother had it for 5 years (if u took the insulation in the ceiling down it would set off the drug dogs )

the one down side as the middle man is your name is the one that goes around as the person to talk too
so this gets u busted ..........when u get busted they are going to offer u a deal to narc out ppl .........if u take this deal u are a dead man snitches get stitches u will still do time and being a rat will get out u will wish they just killed u ..........if u get busted and keep mouth shut and do your time all your old contacts will reach out and thank u along with make your word gold (u earned the biggest rep boost u can ever get u did your time and kept mouth shut so ppl know they can talk to u ) then the deals get bigger and the cash u end up is nice

This was when I was in college, bear with me.
Let's say 5 people want an 1/8. I go collect money from 5 people, 45bucks each. Now I have $225. I buy an oz for $200, and give out the 5 1/8s to those customers. Now I have $25 and 3/8 for free, for maybe 30min of walking.
So now I sell my other 3/8 at 45 a piece and now I have $160 in my pocket that I didn't have an hour ago, and I started with no money.
Middle man doesn't produce or consume, he transfers and is compensated for it.
I made a lotta money in college that way. And the best part is, I started with absolutely nothing but a bunch of people too lazy to get their own weed. Each of those people thought I was only picking up their 1/8th for them, not making money and free weed off of them.

28g in an oz x $20/g = $560 - $240 to the grower = $320 profit for middle man
where do you get $40 from?
Those saying this is a "raw deal" I sold around 16 ounces at $240 each when I grew...an eighth of similar quality in the area was going for $50 or even $60/eighth
That left the middle man enough margin where he could still make at least an $80/oz profit by undercutting the competition
Not bad fraction of the pie for taking on a fraction of the work & risk (ounces and under in that state were misdemeanors given no proof of intent)

I've always been a middle man before I started growing. My rule was never to pay for cannabis. I knew how to cultivate those connections and buy in bulk. It always paid for my smoke, and give me some extra scratch.
So many people don't want a drug dealer, or pay the prices they can get it for. Someone like me didn't mind expending capital to buy weight and redistribute it to others at a cheaper cost. It was usually very easy. I was going to smoke anyways and I always felt my risk may as well be my reward.

Mortgage broker, used car salesman, the grocery store.
Most everything is middled at some point...we just typically reserve the term middle man for things "we" need to make sound bad. A middle man is distance from the point of sale....the bartender faces the penalties for over serving, not the alcohol producer....can you imagine if a bartender could flip on the manufacturer....

IMO, middle men are pretty useless and have no UTILITY
sure, they assume some risk and therefore mitigate your risk as a grower...that's the only reason why I've ever used them. No grower who assumes such risk, particularly in an illegal province, wants to create contacts and have his personal biz in the streets

I have a relative that's a realtor. They do a shit ton of leg work to find the home (buyer side) or the buyer (seller side) to get the deal closed.
You've got the showings, and research for your client as well making sure all the documents, and inspections are aligned.
Can you do it yourself? Sure, but most people would much rather have someone else take the reins for a couple percentage points. Moving is stressful already, and a good realtor is worth the couple percentage points.
showings? aka facades/sideshows...with snacks, drinks...often times contractor or bidding ACTORS who show up thanks to the realtor to add an artificial sense of demand
documents/inspections: any bozo can hit up city hall for a complete list of any and all documents on the history of the house or zoning info
I think most people DON'T do the "leg work" because they don't give themselves enough credit to learn/apply
If you're interested in owning multiple positive-cash flow generating rental properties/complexes like me, it's much more cost effective to take an average 4-week course and provide yourself the objective opinions on properties without a vested interest in simply closing a deal
