Am I the only one who believes that these journalists got their warning and continued to poke a bear with a stick? That is like going up to someone who has been in jail for years and calling them your bitch lolol. What did they think was going to happen?

Satire or not we live in a world of many different beliefs and people. You try doing that shit to the mexican cartel and what do you think they will do? I have no clue but I sure as hell wouldn't want to poke them to find out.

Even though most Americans wouldn't even read that publication, satire should be protected, as should hate speech. It shouldn't be met with violence and those who sink to such a level should be punished.

Yes the Mexican cartels are just as bad, they act in a different way. Murdering journalist and government officials. They aren't an ideology but simply protecting their racket.

That is the thing though, even though we find it morally unacceptable to murder journalists and satirists they don't. We can't force our beliefs on them we can only bomb them to the stone age as chaney would put it.

Fuck Cheney. I agree we can't force beliefs on them, but these are extremist and not representative of all those who follow Islam. If that were the case, there would be over a billion more participating in such abhorrent acts of violence.

Doesn't change the fact that those who are doing these acts have a different moral compass, some even think they are doing it in the name of their holy figure.

Others commit acts in the name of Christianity, Judaism (no one remember JDL?), or even Buddhists.

There will always be extremist in groups for a variety of different reasons.

I am not arguing against that, I am merely stating a fact that we all have different moral compasses. Regardless of your religion or race or culture.

I mean if they banged one of their wives it would be justified but not by making a little joke. They need to lighten up once in a while and maybe they wouldn't be so fucking crazy.
Even then it wouldn't be justified. It takes two to tango, unless its rape and even that doesn't mean violence should be handed down as punishment.

If we are going to call ourselves civilized, we must not sink into barbaric behavior

I agree to that as well, I just can see how a man can go into an unforgiving rage in such a situation. On the other hand I could NOT see someone going apeshit over a little cartoon.
