for only 2$ more, yeah its a good deal since you have to buy big bags of ingredients to brew. im going to try it, but it doesnt say anything about white slime preventative just root rot and algae.

Appreciate it cheers, ive also heard hydroshield to be good but people brew it into a tea with other ingredients to add more variety of beneficial bacteria. I do not know where to start with brewing but if hydroshield works good enough by itself i might just pick some up.
3 gallon jugs of r/o water from the grocery store in a 5 gallon bucket.

1 scoop great white
a "splash" of hydroguard (30 - 50 ml)
1 tablespoon black strap molasses... grandmas molasses from grocery store.
2 handfuls general hydro ancient forest humus dangling in a sock or pantyhose like a tea bag.
bubble with an airstone for 36 - 48 hours. dose the res 2 or 3 times a week... probably want to pour the tea through a filter like stocking or whatever. you can keep tea in the fridge for about a week until it smells like a huge organic shit. do not use too much molasses, you dont want it in the res. make sure you are not using nutes with organics. keep res light proof. if you use tap water it can be dechlorinated with tap water condirioner from the pet store.

does the water in my res need to be washed out and de-chlorinated water added? or can i just put tap water back in?

you could rinse off the roots and mix up a new res. the chlorine can kill the bennies... if you think about it the whole point of chlorine is to kill bacteria. just dont get the walmart tap water conditioner that says promotes slime coating for fish. the main ingredient of the conditioner is sodium thiosulfate... can get it at petsmart etc...
