Well if an HT article by Megan Chu who visited a club in Barcelona says it, it must be true and not just some cheap title to grab attention.

If anything came close, Las Vegas and Portland are must better candidates for that title. They don't seem to have that desire though, what is it with Barcelona wanting the be "the new Amsterdam" so badly anyway. You can buy some mj in member clubs and you think you're the new Amsterdam where it's been normal for decades... Barcelona is a great city to visit and fuck, can't beat smoking on those beaches, but this new Amsterdam bs is just absurd. There's nothing like Amsterdam.

but Spain is full of thieves and pickpockets.
Yeah, don't have any of those in Amsterdam.

Yes but you havent visited our clubs here yet I've been to Holland 13/14 times.

The most interesting point that you've missed out is why the Dutch giants are here already?!

The Mesa, Strain Hunters to name but a few. Arjans club is really nice, amongst the 5 he has in Spain.

It's part of a movement with fantastic loopholes for tax breaks prior to regulation.

Truly I think we need more cities like this across Europe.

Claiming I'm missing a point that wasn't made is just... anyway, how does any of that make Barcelona the new Amsterdam? Your argument is invalid. Many dutch breeders already grow their seeds in Spain, why wouldn't they open clubs there too... the reason they are there is "more money". Don't flatter yourself with the arrival of Arjan lol of course he has a club there.

13/14 times huh... Anyway, so what, I got high in a club in Alicante and at least 4 other cities/towns in Spain including Barcelona before clubs became common. How does your attempt to gain credibility make Barcelona the new Amsterdam? Opening clubs where you can smoke cannabis doesn't make a new Amsterdam where it's been normal for decades, absurd....

After the last cup I believe HT. is laying the groundwork for moving the cup out of Amsterdam.
Again, I don't get this Amsterdam-wannabe desire, it's almost Chinese. There are already HT cups across the globe, it's impossible to move the HT Cup Amsterdam out of Amsterdam... keep dreaming.

Let me rephrase; Amsterdam will be eased out as HT's Marquee event Spain is the front runner to assume the mantle, IMO.

"IMO"? How is that an opinion, it seems more like wishful thinking, based likely on more wishful thinking and not the fact it's HT who fucked up the cup by requesting the permit too late, much later than usual. Again, I don't get the wannabe-desire. Barcelona will never be the new Amsterdam and pretending to be that only makes it more unlike Amsterdam.

Barcelona will learn what Amsterdam already has - they do not want the Cannabis Cup anymore. It is made up of hopelessly ignorant Americans who know nothing about cannabis. Ummmm, High Times readers.
Well, I wouldn't have said ignorant Americans specifically but it's mostly just ignorant tourists yes.

A title like "One can smoke cannabis in Barcelona" or "Visiting a cannabis club in Barcelona" just doesn't get the same response as "Barcelona - the New Amsterdam", like people reposting it in forums.

From that article:
"Unlike most Dutch coffee shops I’ve visited, Kush labels its strains with their respective THC percentages, ranging from 8 percent to 11 percent."

Fucking stupid...
