Thanks for the heads up. I guess we're experimenting now :) Today is the first day if you want to keep track.
 
Splifferous was the first that I saw try 730 nm for a trigger about 3 years ago and I've been using it for 2 or more years. Just for after lights out indoors and you can use it outdoors but in that case you start it before sunset and run it till after,I think it was about a half hour all together.
 
Just to settle my curiosity, I'll keep it in the morning for a few days at least, but if things start getting crazy, I'll go back to what is known to work:)
 
Hi everyone, here's a quick update on the girls:todayspic.jpg

I switched the LSD around with the Ewe-2, so on the right from top to bottom we have: Liberty Haze, Ewe2, and Lemon Kush Headband. Using the 730nm for 5 mins at lights out really did induce some stretch...which is good in my case because the plants were a little stout.

Also, I got some Tropf Blumats to play with:) The directions say it's not for indoor use, so I'm going to play around with them on some houseplants (sitting in a tub large enough to hold the reservoir of water (~1L each plant for now) )for a while to see how reliable they are. Definitely don't want a flood in an upstairs closet....jeez that would be a nightmare.

Oh, and even though I did this once before, I guess I didn't learn my lesson....didn't tighten the regulator down good enough and the tank only lasted a week O_o feeling pretty guilty about that.....
 
3rd Place in the Party Cup Competition is worth an Inda-Gro 200 watter!!! Man, it was a tough competition. I watered that bitch twice a day, haha. But it was totally worth a freebie seed and 13 cents of Miracle Grow :) Looks like the veg tent is getting a couple cobs (to be dimmed significantly) and we're upgrading to the IG200 in the flower tent with the 730nm flower initiator:) Thanks for everyone that voted for me, I really appreciate it a lot!! Fack yes!
 
I know, even twice a day watering they wanted more! What an experience. You deserved it, your not sitting back doing the same thing. You keep tweeking things in your setup for the better, interested to see how your new setup does. Nice job man.

Thanks a lot, man:) You're right, it was an experience that's for sure. I think I'm sitting the next one out, just so I can work on things without the pressure. It was a lot of fun and totally worth the hassle. I'll try again if there's a 7th Party Cup Competition next year:)

I'm really interested to see how the new light does too. I read lots of good things about them, and the 200 seems perfect for my 3x2 area. Seems like now I have the lighting department set up pretty damn well:)

These blumats are looking pretty promising....just can't decide if I like the Tropf or the original blumats better so I'm trying them both. I put a dripper in the LSD pot, her's is in the hardest spot to water, even though she's right by the door of the tent. Haven't watered her since yesterday, but soil seems to still have a good moisture level and no overflow from the saucer. They usually need watered every day in the tiny pots, so these blumats will really help me out as a time and effort saver. Plus, later in flower, I'm always bumping flowers and getting resin on my arms, and that's annoying.

It's a bit confusing to me, but I thought the tropf was 'newer,' though I really have no idea, haha. I decided to try them both out...I worried about the dripper system for long term reliability and I wasn't sure if the cone-feeder (what I called original blumat) would be able to deliver enough water.

My thoughts as well with the blumats.===== dialing in seems a bitch with the dripper? vs the cone. Cone can't take anything except water though, might clog from just medium/high TDS as well?IDK...........just thinking out loud, we'll find out I guess......

Yeah basically those things:) So far, after two days, the dripper seems pretty easy to use and adjust. I just followed the directions exactly and it works as advertised. I'm putting nutes through it to run it through the dependability test. I haven't gotten the other blumats in the mail yet, but I'm going to run nutes through them too and see how it works out. Even though I haven't tried the other blumats, I think I like the drippers a lot so far...they just need to work reliably and I'll use them. I was thinking about setting up three small reservoirs of about 1 L to feed two plants each. That way if something does happen, it's only a little water.

Planning water mishaps are part of the deal. Gotta assume it'll happen eventually

But if you run clean nutes or water I find they are amazingly reliable. Watch out for fast growth rates...:joint:

Mid flower it will drip constantly at lights on with enough light intensity...;-)
 
The blumat jrs. are the cone style, where you bury them and just have a cap for reservoir piping, no drip top. Tropf makes both the Blumat Juniors and the "Blumat's?"....and there are many knock-offs of the Jrs........ [this is what I found out I have...so still skeptical if they will work]

I like the drip style, didn't realize it quite worked that way. Was there directions on how far to bury the cone itself? Mine have zilch and I have seen most bury the cone types all the way to the cap?

Yes, I got a couple blumat jr's and xl's coming. I saw all the knock-off's, but I usually don't have good luck with that, so I went with the blumats. I really like the drip style too, and I think I'm going to use it on all the girls I germinate from now on. I might just hang on to the jr/xl's or give them away to friends. Also, I have other houseplants that they could go into.

So, mine is a tad deep, but yes, the kits(I got the patio kit for ~50 bucks-6 carrots, tubing, connectors, etc) come with instructions and they are on the website I think...basically, under the dark green cap that you can see in the pic is a light green plastic fitting that has threads on it and connects to the carrot. The instructions say to press the tropf blumat into the dirt slightly past the beginning of this light green fitting.

I really like how the one is working so far, so I hooked up two more:) Now I only have to water the easiest to reach plants by hand:)

Man, you were right...I can't wait until the next plants all get watered with the blumat drippers:) You were right about the drip rate too, the Liberty Haze in the back is basically at a constant slow drip. She is in a bigger pot, probably 10 inches and the other two are in the 6 inch pots-they don't drip constantly though, but pretty often.....but no excess water out of the bottom of any pots:) Seems like the plants get exactly what they want:)
