I gotcha. From the begging of your thread iv'e been on your side. The only thing I would have done is contacted mota directly is all which has been probably been stated
 
When did you get these seeds? It seems odd to do a germination test on something he's selling ;););)

Or did he have reports of germination issues with the stuff he was selling so he sent you some to test out? I'm thinking this is probably what happened, and if it is, then it's fully acceptable to make this public information. I'm just trying to figure out why a professional breeder would need someone else to pop seeds for them. It's like a mechanic taking his car in for an oil change at jiffy lube it makes no sense at all.

The seeds are being sold for $80 a pack, people should probably know if it's going to be a risk to run and be prepared.

There is no reason to keep shit like this private. None at all other then to save the breeder some face... and is that really important when folks gardens could be potentially at risk? If the seeds are being released to the public then the information should be made public. If I am running testers I am running them in a public journal so that way if the breeder decides to release a strain that a bunch of people had issues with testing the information is out there for people. It's what it's all about... at least to me. That's why I come here. To learn and spread what little information I can.

We got enough folks that horde strains and make ridiculous rules, we shouldn't wish for the same on information that could save someone months or thousands of dollars etc.etc.etc.
 
I make strains and I don't "Need" anyone to test them for me as I'm sure Mota doesn't. I give mine away and people tell me what they thought. They shouldn't go to a forum first and make a big deal about how horrible they were. Maybe we need a Mota thread then?
That's what most folks do is start a breeder thread and then let the good and bad be said

Or better said, the players make up their own rules and the audience gives their own inflated interpretation. I breed for breeding though not for selling seeds, if I end up creating something decent and can sell those, that would be fun, but I already own a company in a different game so going to keep it small and focus on just a few strains.

I don't know a lot about Mota and nothing about his methods, I only know he gave some seeds to Sannie. For all I know he has great gear.

I'm a baker. If I make a new recipe for cookies and give them away to a food blogger before I taste them, and they taste like dogshit, I fully expect to see a post saying my baking tastes like trash. If they are great, I hope to see an article saying it's great. Not knowing which will show up online is the risk I take if I give them out blind. They may be getting "free" food, but that doesn't mean they owe me silence. They aren't my employees, I chose to give my product away for the benefits I could potentially reap from having it tested, and I accept the associated risks that go along with going out of house for the service I want. If I don't want my tests talked about honestly in public, I wouldn't give them to a member of the public to test honestly. Just my $0.02.

It is a lot faster to bake a cake than it is to grow out genetics and test them in multiple environments.

i think most of it is about numbers like someone else said earlier..
a lot of breeders are med patients, and can only grow x amount of plants at one time, therefore they depend on others to help do some grunt work on their behalf..

True, but that also means that more time/effort/resources are required of potential testers. Best case scenario they save a couple hundred simoleons on quality seeds, worst case they waste a couple hundred simoleons growing junk. It's a gamble for both breeder and tester.

A picture of an actual plant would be better proof than a jar of weed. I know lots of non-growers with jars just like that. Not saying you didn't grow it, but those pics are only proof that you have weed, not that you grew it.

it's definitely a gamble on both..
i've seen more times than i should have, people will take testers from a breeder, who in trade for them, promised a grow journal for said grow, so the breeder, and anyone interested, could follow the progress of said beans, turn around not to be seen from. no grow journal, no pix of grow, nothing.. i've even seen people trading tester beans, which i think is kin of shady too, but hey. w/e..
it's also a gamble on the growers part as well, they could all end up being bunk for many a reason.. that's why if i were to do a big test grow, i'd have to run it along with some tried and trued genetics to make sure it wasn't a complete write off to a learning experience.
