Having troubles increasing my yield

1000w, 7 gal pots, expensive nutrients, nice looking plants.....I dunno. If I read this right, you've stuck with the same nutes (I confess I skimmed) through each grow. I then point to the AN. AN isn't for everyone....I'm personally not a AN fan. I keep it simple with Jack's....one nute from beginning to end and it's dirt cheap too.

I've not heard of Jacks before now. The local shops only carry AN and Green Planet which is supposed to be a knockoff. Its cheaper but not by very much. Same line up of boosters etc.

Is there a particular formulation I should be using?

Tis a regular garden nute, you'll never see it in a grow store

I was not happy with my soil/coco grows either. I was always getting 24oz in a 4x8 tent under 1200w regardless of how many plants which is right at 1/2g/watt. I recently switched to a rdwc system and the growth of hydro vs soil/coco is just unreal. There is no comparison imo. I'm chasing that 1g/watt as well, and have seen some rdwc's that get around 1.5g/watt. I have cool tubes too, and definitely agree that a larger reflector would be very beneficial. That is my next upgrade for sure. No doubt that a little longer veg will increase your yeilds too. I think 3 weeks is a little short for dirt, 8 weeks would be better, at least it was for me. In hydro 1 week of veg makes a huge difference from what I've noticed in my grow so far. 4 of 6 that vegged a week longer are almost twice the size of the remaining 2. I ran AN nutes in coco/soil and am now running lucas forumul using GH micro and bloom w/ calmag. So far the results are amazing. Good luck with your grow!!

vegged for 2 weeks from clone, now at day 17 flower.
24 days ago the 4 in the back were 6" tall. The 2 in the front only had 1 week but are different strains that the other 4. sativa and an indica. that sativa is lanky! they needed another week or two of veg imo.

I thought about doing netting but I was moving my plants around and it made it hard for me to get at them for watering. How do you manage that?

Here are two pictures of my current crop. They were transplanted on Sunday. There are 10x Ak48 and 10x Diesel GrapefruitView attachment 3314967 View attachment 3314968
the plants in these pictures need to be topped earlier. There are too many branches off the trunk and the main cola maintains to much auxin domination for optimal yield. Top earlier and allow the plant to form 4 strong branches instead of one main trunk. This allows the hormones to spread allowing multiple dominant tops instead of 1.

thanks @Aeroknow !
@Medicanman I built mine based on current culture 'undercurrent' design. There are a couple of different ways to build one, but basically the water from each bucket is constantly recirculating throughout the system. They are all attached together.

Tis all about the veg in the end, though there is other solid advice given like remove the cool tubes, I don't agree with AN but that is another story and not the problem, anyway, click this link and scroll till ya see a homer bucket then just follow the pics,

https://www.rollitup.org/t/giving-defoliation-during-flower-a-try.839655/page-85

on the next page I posted several pics from the grow because someone didn't believe it. This is a champion tomato grower trick and it does increase veg time (I went 9 weeks) but I pulled a lb from 2 plants under 2 400 watt lights and I was in sunshine mix #4
Sooo...This doesn't strike me as the typical defoliation. Is the point you were making that roots are more important than leaves? This method is very intriguing ...........hmmm....Boxes are a terrible place to keep a mind - I'm glad yours isn't inside of one.

So this is kind of like scarifying cuttings - just on a larger scale? Seems like you'd still have to make up for the lack of leaves with a longer veg to get the most out of it but I'm just guessing...jump starting the root system like that would probably help kick out that vegetative growth so maybe that offsets the initial lack of 'solar panels' ? let's hear some more about this RM3 :P U got my handful of remaining neurons firing

Yeppers def requires a longer veg. Tis roots and leaves that make up the machine. The longer veg replaces the leaves pretty fast once that trunk starts rootin. Is not something I do alot I did to show others how to get more yield out of a smaller plant due to plant count limitations set by the State.

Not to split hairs, but the PAR rating of a bulb is what's important. Lumens are a unit of measurement (to determine the relative brightness from a source of light) relating to the human eye.

Whatever your reason for growing, there is no need to be wasteful. I really hope some noob doesn't read this and thinks it's a good idea to change their lights 50 times a year.
You say your not trying to split hairs ! Are you serious , who cares if its lumens or par used to describe the fact that 99% of all 600 watt hps bulbs are the same brightness, lumens, par , brightness ect , its all the same no matter how you word it , a 600 hps is a 600 hps when it comes to light output ,period .

Your 3 posts have made it perfectly clear that YOU HAVE A PROBLEM with my " wastefull " spending as well as enviromental issues about saving space at the landfill , ive read every post in this thread & nowhere do i see you offer the OP any advice related to his questions about how to increase his yields.

Then you nit pick my advice over trivial issues that will in no way ever apply to the OP's questions or help him in any way with his yield ,next you go as far as saying you hope a newb dont read my post & replace his bulbs 50 times a year , pretty dramatic dont ya think .

Since you felt the need to correct me on using precision terminology in describing light values i'll respond with this fact , every hour ANY BRAND high intensity bulb is used the bulb's light output decreases & gives off less light , that isnt just my opinion but a well known fact , most renowned grow guru's recommend installing new bulbs every 2 grows due to this measurable light loss & the effect of the lost light output on overall yields .

Just because we cant see a change in light output dont mean the bulb is still operating at peak output , dollars lost in wasted electricity powering an inefficient bulb could easily pay for the bulbs replacement costs after 2 grows on wasted electricity alone , thats not even counting lost/added bud weights .

It seems your reasons for posting are more about your enviromental issues & personal spending than helping the OP's questions about increasing his yields , pretty sad .

Are you suggesting that all lights are created equally? That's not the case at all.

And yes, I do have a problem with your post. It's absolutely retarded advice to be telling someone to change their lights after every grow, and it is irresponsible and selfish to not give a fuck about the planet that we all share.

Ok Captain Planet . Re read my post & you'll see where i recommended bulb changes every 2 grow , standard procedure for most seasoned growers based on light loss levels from burn time .

Im done with this stupidity of yours with childish posts about the planet & landfills , go troll somebody else over stupidity , this thread WAS about helping the OP correct inefficient yields , not par ,landfills ,wastefullness & save the planet , great thread hijack , im out .

I consider myself a seasoned grower, been growing indoor for more than 2 decades. It's been the Eye Hortilux only, for at least 17-18 years now for me.
As I had said already, once a year. I don't fuck around with cheap bulbs, so I dunno how long those last.

Even though my light meter doesn't measure par, I've used it, and the
fact that yields are NOT diminishing within the one year limit I put on the bulbs, to make one year the standard. I know people who replace more often. And I know people who replace less.
I pay $, couple bucks a bulb, when I drop off old bulbs at my hydro shop. They get recycled. How? I dunno, but it makes me feel better.
And oh yeah, there is absolutely nothing wrong with regular sized hoods with 1000w bulbs. 1000w=4X4, 600w=3X3.

I know. Who gives a fuck about the planet, right?

I buy the cheap bulbs and throw them out every grow........ 600s big hoods and new bulbs was great advice....
Shocker
