Is it possible(realistically) to sanitize a used fan of mold spores etc?

Greetings roll it up community!

I recently bought a used 10" max fan i will be using it to suck air into my space through a hepa filter. driving home i thought to myself, what good is that hepa filter if the used fan and duct muffler i just bought that ill be blowing through has bits of dust and possibly who knows what (powdery mildew spores, etc) inside of it.

so my question is, has anyone here been through this and found a good way to sanitize a inline fan or a duct muffler?

my only idea is to turn them on and spray a light mist of physan 20 through them, which seems risky for several reasons.

Not sure about the duct muffler, however isopropyl alcohol (or rubbing alcohol) evaporates quickly and is certain to destroy any mold spores it comes into contact with. I've even doused plants with it before without any harm done, diluted of course.

hmm, maybe ill get some 91% and just pour a bunch of it inside the fan and let it air out for a couple days lol

I'm no electrician, so I can't recommend doing that. However, giving it a good wipe/spray down especially on the blades and casing should help.

isopropyl alcohol is supposed to be safe for electronics as long as its un powered and let dry.

make sure you hit everything, use a spray bottle maybe?

if you have space in a freezer try putting it inside it for a few days. That should kill a lot of bad things. Spray it down with 70% or higher ISO would help as well. The ISO won't bother it unless you try to turn it on while it wet.
