Hey guys so its my first grow and like any grower ive had problems with a wholr list of things but have got through them, im now in my final few weeks and with temps dropping i invested in a a fan heater which glows quiet bright now ive had it running for a few days now but have been told the light could affect the plants???? They seem ok so far and they are used to been under 4x 600w so its bears no comparrison to the heater lights.. now i have 2 choices i switch to total darkness and risk freezing temps or i carry on with the heater? Any tips on what to do guys?

Are you talking about the little red light if so I would just put a couple pieces of black tape over it or something. I don't know if that much light would affect your plants but I would still cover it.I'm a first timer also though

Seems too simple for it to be that. Or is he talking about one of these filament fan heaters rather like a hair dryer?

You talk about not wanting to fuck it up. Now tell me, what happens if some dead leaves somehow got blown into the heater? Small chance, but i wouldn't risk it. I'll take my safety over my plants health. why not just buy a heater that doesn't have the potential of burning the place down and not to mention, those things use electricity like nobodies business.

Dont pull early man, they're lookin too good now. I understand the need for heat during lights off, I have the same issue in the winter. Its a good question. I use heaters that just blow warm air, the little power light is of no concern. But those kind that glow and cast a light over the whole room, I dunno, I wouldn't be riskin that myself.
Let's get some more opinions here.

Thanks for that i have just read that amnesia haze can take upto 4 months but the yields are usually alot biggee than nornal.. judging by my plants id say that sounds about right.. i wont pull them until there done.. it'd be nice to have them down for xmas but id rarther have them at there full potential.. ive just put a sheet of black and white between the heater and the grow room.. hopefully the heat will still get through.. i bought an oil filled one but it just doesnt let enough heat out and i payed £50 for it then i paid £30 for this one so im not buying another ha

You're just heating the room not the plants...move it across the room and turn it around...the lumens will drop off...it can't be any brighter than the full moon...g/l

Ive had problems with mine and u learn from it. To me controlling you're enviroment is key.. i owe alot of my growth to high humidity in the first 8 weeks... but as it nears the end ive totally reversed it to were my humidity rarely goes above 40% and u see huge changes in you're plants, ive done so many things wrong on this grow so im.sure youll do fine.. weeds a hard plant to fuck up. Its getting the potent weed thats the hard part

Cheers dude, the way the rooms set out its impossible for me to have the heater safely anywere else.. and thats what i thought. Plants outside not only have moon light but a ton of artificial lights.. i know street lights are 600w hps, i know there far away bit surely plants would fuck up.. bit some ppl make out even abit of light could make you're plants hermie

run your lights at night mate then you won`t need to heat them during lights off ?
I already do mate.. its freezing in the uk at the moment and my grow is in an attic room so i have no choice.. temps have dropped as low as 10c with radiators on through the house.. with this heater im getting like 17c which is nice.. id risk abit of cold if it didnt send the humidity through the roof, even with my dehumidifier once the cold sets in the humidity hits like 70% which is too much especially at the end

Cheers dude but im not sure it will cut it. I bought an oil filled 600w and it didnt even raise the temp by 1c, the heater i have is pumping out 1200w and still only raising the temps by 7c max... it gets very cold were the rooms sitiuated and its not the smallest of rooms either.. it would help if i didnt have to leave my fans on but i cant risk not having an air flow... im dreading my electric bill haha

Ah I get ya dude

As long as you keep them above 10c they will still grow but keeping them above 16c would be better,

You could keep your loft hatch open but then your house will be cooler

I`d go with an oil filled rad (2000w to 3000w Lidl cheap) or if your feeling fancy you could use IR lights at night as long as its just IR it won`t mess with flowering, but if there putting out deep red and red it could become an issue

Yeah it`s getting cold here now huh ? Today saw the 1st lot of proper ice on the road on my way to work

Yes first day of ice for me too.. the heater defo gives out a deep red glow.. like i said ive covered the enterance with black n white and the temps have stayed above 16, i can see a little bit of the first 3 plants when i stick my head in but after that it goes into total darkness... next time im just gonna get a fan heater with no lights ha and i have an oil filled it just isnt warm enough..

I know im only a noob myself but humidity control is extremly important.. too high you're buds wont dry properly and u risk mold.. too low and you're growth will be poor .. for the price it costs to get a decent hygro meter.. a humidifier and a dehumidifier its well worth it in the long run.. what strain are you growing?
