Making BHO Out of Fans/Trim

Hello everyone. I'm very excited about my first nice harvest since I started and I want to try as much as I can in the start and experience all the different things growers get to do. However I don't want to use my finished product /buds when I harvest instead I wanted to use fan leafs and trim and popcorn buds and try to make BHO.

How would I got about this? Does anyone have experience and can help a brotha out? I'm hoping to have a half ounce of material maybe a ounce

Don't put the fan leaves into your trim. They will give you oil a fresh green taste because they don't have much to extract except chlorophyll. If u feel the need to do something with them, juice them. Trim over a clean floor (put down a clean tarp if your a germiphobe) cut all fan leaves off onto the floor. Not trim the rest of bud of a table or something to collect the good trim.

Thanks for the advice! Also how much butane would you use for a half ounce? Any idea on a yield? Maybe a gram?

1 can per ounce of product is standard. Keep multiple size extraction tubes on hand. U want that material firmly packed in an appropriate size tube. As far as yields go, I can't make any guesses. I've had shit yields 1 gram to 7 grams per oz.

Was that 7 grams of flower or trim? Thanks for being so helpful, i planned on using a stainless steel turkey baster with a coffee filter on the end with a pyrex cookplate and griddle.

Seen that 7 on both. If you trim properly, it can yield just as well as bud and have the same flavor. Just gotta pay close attention to what goes into your trim. Please, if you have the money, stay away from that stainless steel thing you were gonna use. Only sealed systems(closed loop) should be metal, and to be honest idk what kind of metal. Tube extractions should be glass.

I heard stainless steel didn't get dissolved by the butane at all though, i need something cheap, i can't buy a extractors tube.

Understood. Just make sure you reference is a quality source, and not just a buddy saying so. Also, keep in mind, we are the "test dumby's" of long time BHO use. Might not want to add inhaling some kind of metal from improper extractions. There is already enough people smoking butane ridden oil.

Separate your stems and fan leaves for a separate extraction to make a killer topical. Tastes like shit and and gives you a charley horse between the ears when vaporized, instead of a high.

If you are talking about a half ounce of sugar trim or bud, about a half a can.

Yield on trim is highly dependent on the quality and strain, but we average ten or twelve percent on the trim we run.

Have yielded as low as "you have to be joking, was this kifed", and as high as "who the hell trimmed this" and threw away all these nice buds?

304/18-8 stainless is a good choice and I don't know of a cheaper source than Bed, Breakfast, and Beyond turkeybasters at $7.99 last time I looked.
