I've always let my seedlings breathe. The only time I use a dome is for cuttings that aren't sitting in water.yes, there is currently a dome on it..do you not do this?
yeah schuylaar you don't really need that dome ...cuttings yes. but not really needed for seedlingsyes, there is currently a dome on it..do you not do this?
i smell experiment a dome is just to create "greenhouse" effect..let's see what effect it has, if any..shall we?yeah schuylaar you don't really need that dome ...cutting yes. but not really needed for seedlings
But if it works for you
just keep an eye on that humidity and how she is reactingi smell experiment a dome is just to create "greenhouse" effect..let's see what effect it has, if any..shall we?

so then humidity is NOT a good thing?just keep an eye on that humidity and how she is reacting
perfect is between 50 & 60?..i'll adjust the vents but want to continue experiment humidity is at 90%/81Fso then humidity is NOT a good thing?
and you know can be problematic because those little plugs dry quick. As long as the medium doesn't dry out, I've never had a problem. Ambient humidity here can be under 20% indoors, single digit outside. The localized humidity from it sitting in a wet tray I'm sure is more than enough. Bitch has roots.. if it's thirsty, it can drink.
I would say a high humidity is not good for seedling. 40-50%. would work. A high humidity in which a dome can create is great for cuttings and when I say high I mean 75% RHso then humidity is NOT a good thing?
90% is too high schuylaar. You are hating the poor seedling right nowperfect is between 50 & 60?..i'll adjust the vents but want to continue experiment humidity is at 90%/81F
yeah, i adjusted the vents to bring it down.90% is too high schuylaar. You are hating the poor seedling right now
nicei was going through my collection and i found an SSH freebie to pop which will give me 2 to select from and made my indie choice:

i'm DTW..not soil. Its not whether or not you need a dome so much. Its more maintaining the soil, temperature and humidity levels that your babies want. So if your house is excessively dry or you must be absent from caring for them for a long time, a dome might be useful.
If overdone, it could be deadly.
Create the environment that particular plant wants and it will be all it can be.
Well, then sorry to have soiled your thread.i'm DTW..not soil.
