How do I prevent Pests, Mold, Disease etc.. On an Outdoor Grow?

I've been considering growing in Washington. It's legal now etc..


I want to grow outside to utilize natural sunlight since it's free an abundant. Also makes it simpler for me.


Anyone with outdoor growing knowledge or experience... I hear that bugs, mold, disease and other things can wipe out an entire crop.. But how do you prevent it since it's outdoors?


I've even seen licensed producers and medical growers grow outdoors.. How can they prevent these things on bud that's supposed to be high quality? Isn't that risky for a business?

You don't prevent it.

You spray with neem and BT, keep your stems safe, and pray for the best. Especially in soggy Washington. I will let someone on here from the area comment on the area, but the cold wet air isn't the best for cannabis. You might only have a couple month window depending on weather.

I grew outdoors in Tennessee... all you can really do is grow enough plants to lose one or two to mother nature, do your best preventative maintenance, and see how it goes.

I live in Southeastern Washington, the climate during spring and summer is very hot, dry and PLENTY of sunlight. Nothing like the Seattle area. It's a desert out here.

So you can spray them with various solutions?

Sounds like the perfect outdoor environment

Yes, when I grew outdoors I would spray twice a week with a neem tree oil and once a week right before sunset with a BT spray.

Cabbage loopers are a Mother f----er in Tennessee...

orange peel on the ground ......cats dont like the zesty smell..lol.
thats the only help iv got sorry.

and a dish of beer.........the slugs are like magnets to it .....they get drunk fall in and drown..


hope this helps .......also google "companion growing" fruit and veg people know this best where you plant ....lets say tomatoes and basil together (as companions) and they help each other get rid of pest .??youll have to google it for better info sorry

Never spray your flowers ever! You don't want them getting wet. If they aren't budding you can spray them because you wont be smoking those leafs anyway.

I wouldn't spray neem on the buds, but I know some do.

I will spray the f--k out of buds with BT though... if a looper digs into a bud, he will eat it from the inside out and rot it whole in no time.

I have a few predator bugs around that take care of a lot.

Mold was the major killer for me outdoor. You have to control the humidity. Healthy plants can fight off a lot of pests/diseases .

Sounds like the whole greenhouse thing would do the trick. Do they still get good natural sunlight though the greenhouse material though?

Yup I don't even have the proper plastic up and they still kick ass.
