Very worried, plumber on his way!

Hey everyone. I'm pretty much shitting it here. I'm in the UK (rented house) and have a tent with 6 very young girls growing in my spare room.

I had my annual gas inspection last week where the gas man checked my boiler and cooker, all coool. But since then my boiler has been playing up and leaking a little from a filter. The plumber is coming out soon to fix it, i just fucking hoping he doesn't need access to my 'spare' room to check the radiator in there.

Hoping this makes sense, any advice is welcome. Thanks

Haha I have a dog, but he has a crate he stays in. I have a lock on my door, could maybe say my friend is staying for a while.

Lock the door (buy a lock for it if you dont have one on it already) and say its a rental room to your nephew and you dont have the key. Just make sure to make sure no lights beaming out of the crack under the door and keep some candles burning to mask the smell you dont notice any more

Does anyone have experiences with boiler services? Will the plumber even need to check my radiators?

Not sure about UK, but here, the Boiler (water heater) and heater (for steam rads, or hydronic) are usually separate machines on separate circuits of pipe.

No he wont be needing into your spare room to look at radiators, you should be more worried about to £90/per hour cost plumbers charge !

I locked the door to the spare room, he said because I had a full drain and refill of the system that the radiators would need bleeding.

I told him my friend was staying and had asked for a lock put on his room.

He said "no problem, you've got a bleed key?"

I said yes.

He then said you may need to bleed the radiator when your mate gets back.

Job done.

Come up with a decent reason why the door is locked, your dog may seem an appropriate reason, then tell the plumber that you can bleed any rads that need it.

Thanks man, its a 2 floor house and my room is upstairs, so cant really say about the dog. He has his crate that he will be in downstairs.

Have your rads got bleed adapters fitted on them?

Some rads don't have bleed adapters so he may not need to do a bleed.

You got any kids?

If you've got an old enough kid you could tell him theyre a very private person and wanted a lock on their room.

Thanks. The leak is from a filter attached to the boiler. Its nothing to do with my rads. My boiler is due a service anyway so im guessing the plumber will fix and service in the same visit. The only reason he will want access to the room is to check if the rad is working. I guess i'm answering my own question! I live on my own, with my dog! I have house inspections every 3 months so the estate agent sees an empty bedroom everytime they visit.

The plumber is a friend of the landlord.I deal direct with a letting agent.
