POWER OUT! WHAT TO DO!

This is a thread for people who have indoor grows and depend on electricity to power their room. What happens when the power goes out? Sometimes power goes out for multiple days, and living in the Northeast I know that is a damn true fact if not once a year. So this thread is to all you out there that have finagled something to keep your plants alive and what you used to do that. A lot of people don't have a generator, so if the power goes out for multiple days what do you do to keep them alive with light, ventilation etc? Candles? Flashlights? Lanterns?

Winters here are real tough too with ice storms and that shit. We lose power quite often. Luckily since the last two years I started growing my moms meds indoors they haven't gone out once. Im just trying to prepare for the worst when it does happen, and Im afraid its inevitable with the way the weather has been super crazy and getting worst.

Yup if you might lose a 5000$ crop a 1000 dollar gen was well worth it :)

also look into solar im going to make me a grow cabin one of these days thats hopefully self contained

Multiple days? Only thing you can do is move them outdoors during the day (or in a window) and back inside when it gets cold. If it's only one day with the lights out, the plants might not even mind the dark that much.

I have a buddy that keeps his clones in 24 hour dark before going into flower because he thinks they show faster. They never seem to mind a day of dark...

No hate not saying your wrong cause I give my plants some sun when I can

but might not be the best option winter, security, plus some plants cant be moved

the only fail safe way is a gen or alt power supply like solar with a battery bank

which you wouldnt run full size light but floros could be utilized til the power comes on
also not saying that one night will hurt but fluxuating your photo period can induce stress just sayin if he were a noob

i get at least 2 outages a year and thanfully they have happened at a time it didnt matter. if i had an outage over a few days i would hire a generator

Generator it is then. How much light would it take to keep them alive for a few days till the power came back I guess is what im asking? Would a couple fluoro battery lanterns, or some other battery powered light work till the lights came back on?

Those can work to keep your photo period on track but with out at least a lil intensity you may throw naners out
if its late in flower like a week or 2 tops from harvest I wouldnt care about the dark. So long as humidity doesn't skyrocket cause molds (this is like worst case).

but naners could fuck your crop if your in week 3 of flower
just my 2

Its simple

whats the crop worth?

also remember a generator is good to have not just for growing but for water to flush the shitter you know keep the fridge on ect.
how big of a room is it?

buy a flood light man or a power converter if you can't afford the generator. The darkness may not hurt them but as Cold$moke said they might start throwing nanners. Also you can use damprid for humidity if its an issue.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and I know how you feel. One piece of friendly advise can lead to a lot of hate on these forums nowadays.

Would LED flashlights work to keep them into their photoperiod light without too much stress?
