LOL, I meant of the bulb, but kelvin temp is the color of the light. certain temps burn at different colors. You want a more blue colored light for the veg. 6000k or above.

Get as many of those CFL's as you can afford or invest in a HID remember you are trying to replace the sun here so if you want a decent yield you are going to need a LOT more light. If when you take you pictures it looks dark, thats a bad sign . . . .

They loose lumens exponentially within inches. Put the tube as close as possible and the CFL is at a good height. Just put your hand above the plants. If you think it's comfy your good.
Lowe's sells sockets and plugs, it comes with a reflector for like 6 bucks. Or just find a lamp. Can you return them for the right kelvin temp lights?

If you can get the highest actual watt 6500k CFL's you can and run those for 24 hrs for a few weeks. Water with distilled water every few days and you'll shit yourself!

aim it a little higher if possible, just so they slightly wiggle. not much more than that though. But yeah that is great! I did that and my stalks are huge!!
