First Grow, doing it right?

This is my first time growing cannabis and wanted to get some advice and perspective from some people who have more experience, so thanks for your time. I've been reading all about this online for the last few months and feel pretty confident, just a few things that I would like to clear up.

I have 8 20 Gallon geopots with ROLS filling them til about 2-3 inches from the lip of the pot.

My Box is roughly 4x7 feet and 7 feet tall. 28 Square foot. 196 Cubic feet.

I have one inline fan that pushes 438 CFM out of the top of my box linked to one 1000w HPS.

I have one tower fan and one fan mounted to my box for internal air circulation.

There is a window adjacent to my box, should I/could I have a window mounted A/C unit venting directly into my box?

I plan to build a screen of green for inside my box, although I'm not sure if I should do one for each individual pot or one for the entire box (space is pretty cramped as it is with pots). I plan to build the screen about 4 feet tall so that it is 2 feet from my lights.

If i were to build multiple screens, how much area should each one cover per plant?

I have another 1000w HPS I plan to mount in the box, but am unsure of how to rig an electrical system to allow for that much electrical pull.

Thanks again for any help.

You should post a picture to get good feedback. That way you can discern with better judgement as to what would be best strategically and safer. Also im sure if you mentioned a carbon filter that you have connected to your 1000 or if its only the fan. But post a pic youll get better answers for theyd have a clearer vision. Place them inside your vision. Good growing.:peace:

Sorry about the poor quality of the picture, doing these postings from my phone. This picture is from the entry of the box.

I currently do not have a passive air intake, I kind of assumed since the box isnt air tight enough would be drawn in via the seems (and holes made by cat claws :( )

In regards to the carbon filter no I do not have one. I have this venting directly into the room the box is in.

The window I mentioned in the first post is directly in front of the entry threshold behind the panda tarp.

I'm starting to reconsider doing a screen of green given the tight quarters, perhaps LST instead?

Thanks for your reply Guardian!

I think a small ac unit wouldnt be a problem at all. But id be concerned about doing a screen of green. Although i have no experience with the SOG from what ive read up on your space isnt spacious enouph for a lengthy veg period in addition sprouting flower stage and growth that may be too much stress management on you and the girls. Im thinking it depends on how long you plan to veg before flowering. Also did you plant your seeds already in those pots?

If you are going to ScrOG it in that space, I would do six 5-gal containers. Typically, it's 1 gal per 1 foot of plant. That would give you plenty of plant to fill the screen, and you would have more room to spread out and work below the screen (watering, trimming, pulling tops under screen, etc.). You'd have a level canopy, and utilize the light more efficiently. IMO, 20 gal containers are better for outdoor grows, when you are growing trees (and using the sun for light). Google "scrog" and check out some of the images.

Thanks for your reply,

Do you mean there isn't enough space vertically then? as in my foliage is caught up in the screens at canopy level but my buds would be reaching to close to the light?

And no I'm going to be running clones, figure that would be the best way to learn to grow a spacific strain by holding the genetics constant. The green you see in the pots is clover, a cover crop i'm using to kick start the microbial life, aerate the soil, and nitrogen fixation.

Yes I do have a digital RH and temp meter as well as an analog one you see there in one of the pots. I haven't done a run on the readings recently however as I'm wanting to throw another 1000w HPS in there. also my venting material is at a 90 degree angle from my light to my inline (i didn't put it in) and I'm wanting to move that around to assist in air flow.

Thanks for you reply AfgooCBD, so just to make sure I'm following you here, if i wanted to scrog one of the 20 gallon pots id need 20 sq ft of screen? and by that logic i could just run one 20 gal in my 28 sq ft room and call it a day? Perhaps I'll run and get some smaller pots then and move my soil around a bit. I was warned by someone that smartpots/geopots arnt good to leave outside as they've had the sun melt them in the past, any truth in this?

If you ScrOG, I would do a screen 4x7, the entire area. If you kept the 20 gal, then do two containers. One plant on each half of the space/screen. The screen is at the most 12" above the containers. Is your lighting fixed, or can you raise/lower it with hanging ratchet light hangers? (I don't know about putting smartpots outside. Earlier I was referring to the size, 20 gal, being better for an outside grow, not the type of container.)

Thanks for the reply, sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, my lights are adjustable and from what I understand I want about 2 feet between the light and my plants. Think I'm going to skip the ScROG due to limited space and opt for some LST instead.

Anybody else worried about that power strip sitting on a pot that will eventually need to be watered?
Thanks for your concern, I've since moved the strip, just had it there in the first place because I was adjusting my wires.

Whats you temps like? Do you have a humidity and temp meter?
Even with just the one 1000w HPS I was running a bit hot, but keen humidity ranges. I've now set another 1000w MH in my box and had the temperature start to soar, hit ~90 degrees F, needless to say I unplugged the 1000w HPS until I can remidy my temp issue.

From what I've read online I ought to have passive air intakes roughly 2x the size of my exhaust fan area, so I'll be making two 6" holes and covering them in screen (the kind you would have on a screen door or window)

I'll also be moving my exhaust inline fan to be directly in line with my two hoods. so hood1>duct>hood2>duct>6"inline fan>ducting to the next room since I'll be drawing my intake from my box room.

Also planning to straighten and shorten my ducting to the next room as much as possible.

What do you guys think, will this tame the temps?

Thanks again.
