Going from summer to fall now, my gnats seem to be getting worse. The yellow sticky traps you place just above the soil have kept them at bay all summer but they are getting worse and the sticky paper traps are a rip off, 5$ for what equates to a 3"x 8"(roughly) yellow peice of sticky traps thats fill up in just a couple weeks, not to mention the get in the way when watering and they love to stick to and rip off leaves, not really a problem but annoying none the less.

Get big bright yellow poster board and cover it w a glue stick and put on walls or anytbing that stays sticky and there ya go a 4ftx4ft sheet for like 2 bucks they also make tape that is.like 50ft long yellow and attrscts them for cheap but dont remember were I seen it

I bought some shit from my local hydro store called Gnatrol. It works great! I haven't had a single gnat, since I purchased some of this. I just add a 1/2 teaspoon to a gallon of water and apply to my plants a couple of times and presto! No more gnats! Gnatrol has something in it called Bacillus thuringiensis that kills gnats and other pests. You can find it in Mosquito Dunks and a couple other products at your local Home Depot, so you might want to try them if you don't have a hydro store near you. I have tried the dunks before, and I didn't think they worked nearly as good as the Gnatrol. Anyways best of luck!

If they're winged root aphids then gnatrol won't work.

If you have some Neem, you can water with it. 2 tsp with 1 gal of water. wont hurt your gals in veg or flwr

I would not water with neem oil.

I do the organic gig & keep everything spic and span but you'll still get the little buggers in the soil.
My floor is always vacuumed & no dead vegetation is allowed to stay, I manicure most every night.
I use the yellow stickys and allow my soil to dry out a bit more then many do I'll guess.
I might catch a half dozen a week in the traps I have on my pots & rarely see them flying.

Amend your soil with neem seed meal and crab shell meal. I haven't had a bug of any variety since I started using these, and they are sources of nutrients as well.

my rooms are super clean, and I still get bugs... The beauty of living in a redwood forest..
keeping it clean can help, but sometimes it happens.

one thing I do to "recharge" the yellow sticky traps is close them and then put a heavy book on top for like ten minutes, then peel it back open and it's sticky again.
Another thing I like to do (I have gnats that like my wormbin, so i'm good at this) is open the trap, and hold the ends where the holepunch is, and then agitate the area that the gnats land and then wave the air back and forth a bunch, like you are fanning something, and you'll hear the "ticking" sounds of them hitting the trap, it's actually kinda satisfying. Maybe i'm a lil sadistic, but then I like to close the trap while they are still alive... muahhahahah

just topdress with castings and compost. Gnats will be gone in a week. It's the larva that's damages the plant. They eat roots. The flyers just look for water and drown themselves when they find it.. Neem meal will help too. Castings and compost gets rid.of them fast.

I top dressed with some castings and crab meal. Put up a few new sticky traps and it took about a week to notice they were not around. Pretty much killed them all. I also made sure to let my pots dry out a day extra a couple times.
