My plants are about 6ft and seem to be flowering v slowly.
Does anyone have any experience with outdoor c99 and grow rate/ harvest time?
Hoping the buds pick up size in the next 4 weeks as they are only pop corns at the moment!

Growing outside in poly tunnel the strain is 'outdoor c99'

sorry i can't offer any advice or info on said strain but i would like to wish you some luck getting that thing to finish up properly in the u.k.

we have had a great summer and it seems to never want to end, hopefully you can keep the plant healthy for as long as possible and actually get some bud in the end.

do you have any experience growing cannabis in the u.k sun? i must say i have never had good outdoor grow in uk

I had a pre-98 bubba/c99 cross that just finished up in CO. Yours will probably go through a massive bud swell phase within the next month.
Best of luck!

That's encouraging to hear - and good info to get out there for other growers of this xstrain. I started late this year (6th July) so wasn't expecting much but fingers crossed!

This is my first grow. It's been fine with this good summer we've had but I'm suffering a bit now from reduced light levels (trees getting in the way of sun etc). Definitely going to give it a better shot next year though.

fast finishing indica dominant strains would do better, even try an auto flower, you can harvest them in july!!, the quality is not on the same level as most photoperiod strains but they will give you bud!

go for the early growth spurt skunk/ sativa hybrids, plants that cover themselves with little buds allover the branches early on
if they are smokeable and pretty tight by 6 weeks indoors they will do ok outdoor by november

plants that develop indoor later or pack on much of the weight/flower growth at the end, even if they are 8-9 week strains they don't
do so well outdoor in the uk, they will still make good resin for hash, but the flower development will be shit for most of them
very leafy with tiny buds

its hard to get any of them finished outdoor unless you force flower them in summer
and keep them covered or autoflower

i found the best results was not to aim for plants that have a short flower time
but to go for plants that start quickly and pack on resin early

i test a few of my indoor plants outdoor most summers rather than going for outdoor types
most plants outdoor in the uk will not build proper colas they will be very leafy with little bud/calyx mass
i found it more productive to grow plants that make lots of smaller individual buds that spread over the surface area of the plant which is exposed to more light , rather than plants that make a few fat colas

peace

For sure, well I hope you have a bountiful harvest :)
If you can get your hands on some p-phunk, it finishes mid-end of September. I think it may be a strain just in co though. Also shaman is very good and would probably finish around mid sept, maybe even sooner. I threw mine out there around August 15th (3 weeks after other strains started blooming) & it finished by sept 29th.
Smells real fruity and skunky.
Hope yours turns out great

Thanks for the info:

Next year I will definitely be going with a Indica dominant strain which flowers early. - thinking Purple maroc as everyone raves about it in the uk, and Shaman.

It has been fun growing the c99 x strain - but notes for growers in wet climates:
Slow bud formation in late oct -november due to light and cold.
Lots of problems with mold - i'm chopping them down today (roughly 10-14 days early) as I have lost 3 main colas to rot.

On the plus size the plants are massive with lots of bud sites and crystal formation.
so if you have a drier, sunnier climate i would definitely recommend.
