Greenhouse Winter Crop

Has anyone ever done this before? The greenhouse is up and kicking now, about two weeks off from flower so i'm gonna go through and do some lollipoping... Which gave me an idea.

I'm going to take cuts from all the best plants and veg them out while these ones flower. Then once i crop those, amend the soil and stick the new ones directly outside(should be about 10-12wks old). If I can keep it warm enough I should be able to pull another crop but with it getting down to 9 hrs of sunlight a day will that be enough light? Or maybe add some t5's out there and flip them on for an extra three hours?

Afraid it will just produce a bunch of airy buds because they don't get enough true sunlight
Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated, debating between just running some indoor or trying this out.

Sorry. That was vague. The light intensity just isn't there in the winter. The plants will really trich up though. It would be great if you grew alot or some big ass plants straight for hash.

Back into the planning for this. It would take 24 lights with 8x8 hoods to properly cover the greenhouse. Debating between doing this or turning my two spare rooms into grow rooms with ten lights a piece. Any thoughts?

Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Rollitup mobile app

Was about to post same thing. So are you moving along with your plans? Did you decide on lights? What climate are you in?

I do a winter crop for seeds every year in one of my greenhouses. Enough light to prevent budding is enough. I use a single 23 watt bulb on a timer to get a 14 hour 'day'. The buds are airy, but the potency is fine. A good preview. The sun is far stronger than any artificial light source. Trying to duplicate it is costly and will make little difference.

Good information. Any serious difference in potency or even noticable?

It's pretty cold where I live. So far been heating the GH and it's holding. Waiting to see what happens when it's in the teens though.

Not going to do supplement lighting, heating is already going to be too costly. Cost of all those lights plus electric and hookup would be too much.

If the temp can hold then I'll start vegging some plants for a month or so and throw them out. Like veggie said, the buds gonna be airy but that's fine. Better than nothing and a bunch of good trim for oil. @danknugg

While my winter plants are in one gallon pots, I put a space heater under a low covered(in plastic) table with the pots on top. The heater has a good adjustable thermostat. I set it to come on when the soil in the pots drops below forty degrees. I use a separate thermometer for this. Cannabis can handle a few degrees below freezing. The warmer soil releases heat and protects the plants. This has worked for me when outdoor temperatures dropped to 18 degrees F.

Cool good info fellas. So say my sunshine provides around 9 hours of light, supplementing for 3 hours or so would be worth the extra time, or sun will be just fine? My green house is 10 × 20 and I have enough solar and batteries to run about 350 watts for 4+ hours.

As a side note is it reasonable to expect about a 1/2 oz. yield per Sq ft.?

What do you use to heat? I am thinking propane heaters. They have the 9-15 btu screw top heaters for the 5 gallon bottles.

Oil is good to me! The outdoor should just about be cured real good when the oil harvest is ready!

Wow 18! That's awesome. And I was concerned with 29 lol. How did you heat plants in the ground outdoors?

I've tried it a couple of times, with out luck. Like VG said the buds turned out airy but frosty. Ok for personal use but not market quality. I made hash out of everything....now a spring crop is another story, they work out awesomely....good luck

I like hash. Would you say it was worth your time and effort, or would you have been happier putting your resources else where. Would you do it again?

No, it's not worth the effort. You'd be better of with a couple of 1000w lights in a garage or someplace. Besides you can use the lights to veg some big plants in Jan-Feb to put out into your greenhouse for a nice spring light dep crop....;-)
