Sorry for your loss.
I use Frontpoint Security, costs me $50 a month. Ofcourse I invested in $2,500 worth of equipment right off the bat. (I went overboard)
It's well worth the investment though, all video is stored via a cloud. They call you first before the police. You have a safe word just incase, so if you don't give them the safe word police are automatically called. You can access everything from your phone or computer, including video, status, history. You can disarm from your phone.
To many features to name them all.

Open carry is legal in maine. A firearm and a holster is not a bad idea. There are far too many home invasion robberies in Maine.
I have a 16 channel video security system, but it only came with 8 cameras. Cost around $500.
I am a caregiver and have a couple open patient slots. I don't require patients to sign over all 6 plants.

. I feel your pain, I have had rippers wait till harvest break in my house, take my loot, never to find who did it. I quite growing for 5 years and in that span only had one instance where they came up empty handed and no more broken shit. I will say I store nothing at my house at harvest anymore.

Mace, I know I'm not as experienced as some of these gents, but my pit bull terrier seems to keep most anyone from coming onto my property. I've had neighbors on both sides broken into, but so far, so good for me. It's just a deterrent! I think someone who's looking for an easy knock-over will just go elsewhere if it's loud and difficult. My opinion is, most B&E assholes are lazy and don't want to deal with anything that makes work for them!

I also live in California. About 10 years ago at my old house I was burglarized on a weekend I went away.. Called the police took three hours to come out and they filled out a report, I asked them about taking finger prints, they don't do that and said the stuff was prob. Already sold anyway..
If you are growing inside get a alarm system!! I have ADT and pay $25.00 a month because i called and told them I could not afford the 39.99 a month.. They have left it at 25.00 for two years now
Other thing I do is when I go away for a weekend I call ADT and tell them I am gone so if they get a alarm notice SEND THE POLICE first then call me.
I would get a dog, now!!! And a gun in case they break in while you are home..

I am fairly certain it was a family member that feels entitled enough to come to my home when I am not there. I have several dogs, who sound mean, but are teddy bears...another reason I think it was family. I carry a fire arm and have a concealed carry permit. I am a gun crazy hippie! It doesn't help if I am not here. I have installed an out swing steel door on the inside...much harder to kick in. I have also lined up a monthly-fee security system to come install for free. I am also going to get video set up on a motion detector. I am going to leave the outside door as is, in hopes that the punk ass returns thinking easy pickings. Once the outside door is kicked in the alarm will go off, and video will be captured. What do you think?? I must know who did this....

Just to keep you up to speed...
I have still not heard from the detective that was supposed to come over and take finger prints...not surprising really. I am still hopeful. The window they came in threw is undercover of a porch so maybe the prints are still there.
The insurance claim is going very, very smoothly so far. They say they will cover the loss of the medical plants...and they pay dispensary rates, and asked for the # to the local dispensary. So far....no problems at all....I think it is because my insurance company is based in California, which is another green state. With that $ I will get the security I need.

Once the outside door is kicked in, they would still need to kick in the inner steel door to get to my ladies. I have made that much harder...and it will be time consuming.
I think they will run off when the alarm kicks in. I live close to the police station. I think it is worth the risk to know.
