You are in the boulder area I thought, there is no month in which the mean temperature gets below freezing. January being the coldest month and the average daytime high is 45 and the low is 22.

Insulation isn't that expensive either, I assume you already have the garage partitioned off with a room inside for the grow. You probably will be able to get by with nothing more than a space heater, and then only have to run it on only the coldest nights. The lights themselves provide quite a bit of heat, perhaps not venting it all might work.

If you're handy you could insulate the entire garage and add a Nat Gas convection heater for less than $1500.

Or are you just going to hire someone else to do it all for you?

Why didn't you buy a house with a heated garage in the first place? Its a fairly common option in houses within the snow belt these days. Especially seeing as how you are now a business man with a valuable product.

Self rule is about each person ruling themselves. It is an easy move to CO from TX.

Insulation means you get to completely control the internal environment.

Fan controllers and such work better in an insulated, isolated room.

Looking at the average summer time high temperatures in Boulder, a well insulated room will do fine using a 9000 - 12,000 btu AC, a heater will be a total waste of money, unless he plans on using led lights.

Insulation and sealing is a must if you want to keep your room cool, insulation = efficiency. Think of an ice chest holding temperature vs a cardboard box.

Wow, shit sure is expensive wherever it is you purchase it.
I could build your room, insulate and seal it, I wouldn't use sheetrock since it can mold in high humidity environments, I would use treated OSB 1/2" and use regular batted insulation with a combination of radiant barrier foil insulation. This would be less than $300 in total.

You only need one $300 Phresh filter (14") and a $150 Maxxair fan.

$200 heater and a $500 25,000 BTU AC would more than do it since temps neither get extremely hot or cold for extended periods.
You could probably get by with neither since Boulder temps are fairly mild for the most part, the lights themselves would probably heat the room more than adequately in the winter.

$0 for electrician since that work is super simple to do yourself, a monkey can run a wire.

$50 for various screws and sealant.

Total cost $1500

Are you going to finance your Project?

I looked at the numbers and realized how high they were and was going to do a quick cost estimate but I thought... Naah, fuck it...

He is getting ripped off... Cool!!

Well, I would likely insulate it because I am not a total cheapass... However, you would likely get energy savings by NOT insulating it.

Bucky is the kind of guy that thinks a swamp cooler is an upgrade. His drying room comes with kitty litter. He gets the chance to build any custom grow room he wants and he comes up with a 10' x 6' toilet closet. My grow room is completely hidden inside my house and it is bigger than that for christ sakes!!!

On to the primary lesson of the day... For the same reason Astronauts suits are air conditioned. To get rid of the heat more quickly!!

Boulder is high up so it probably cools off at night. Never been there. Anyway, you could run a system at night and the heat from the grow could more quickly be dissipated. He is running an open circuit grow because he has indicated scent control so it isnt a sealed room. In the winter you could always use a space heater if necessary but the lights should do most of the work.

If you insulate the room then you have to use extra AC to exhaust the air. And BTW, if you are going to use an open exhaust then you are just blowing conditioned air right out the window... Literally... Maybe the savings from the swamp cooler will pay for it you dumbass :P Bucky has no common sense when it comes to wealth or HVAC Add that to the pile...

Yeah, If it were me, I could do the whole thing for less than $1,000. I assume his Garage has a Sub Panel in it, that makes all the electrical really easy. Adding a sub panel is no big deal though. I use a small AC unit for my grow, but no heat is needed, the lights provide plenty.

Checking the average temperatures you could probably cool off the grow room with air pulled in from the outside 7-10 months of the year.

I wired my brother in laws shed with lights and outlets from the breaker at his house. Electrical is pretty easy.
