My Horizontal Grow

Here's what I use to tie plants down, not really sure what there called some sort of paper clip. Just clamp to your pot bend one of the arms back up, tie your string to it then clamp the other end between the pot and clamp.

Easy to adjust, easy to setup and remove. Cheap as shit to implement lol.
I just stole this idea from you, lol

That's basically what I normally do, but I've drilled holes in the top of my pots so don't need a hook.

I'm going to lay some sticks sideways, across the main support and then pull them all down to a level.

Whoever said do it before the stretch was right, its going to be way more hassle now, they have grown upwards considerably, not gappy though, still short spacing between nodes. But still noticeably bigger.

This plant is a real grower, I'm glad I did it sideways or else I think I would have ran out of height by now.

I did worry about that, so the idea of moulding the branches horizontally outwards now has still been playing on my mind a bit.

The problem isn't what to tie them with, its what to tie them to. Pretty much all the plant is away from the pot, floating. The only thing I can think is some horizontal splints, tied to the main splint already there.
Just hang weights from the branches, just dont tie them with anything too thin as it will cut into the branches

Yeah will do, tried weights before but the plant just bench pressed them!

I've got this special plant wire, got it from a garden shop, its bendy wire, covered in thick, soft rubber, that doesn't cut into the stem.

I still haven't tied them down, they are growing so quick, really wish I did this earlier, no time today, but when I do it tomorrow each plant is probably going to be about 5 foot wide! (No joke)

Finally managed to get them tied down, these plants are out of control, my room is 2m squared pretty much and they are now getting squashed by the walls, especially as the walls suck in a bit with the negative pressure.

Its an absolute forest in there!

For anyone wondering if you can bend your plant over and grow horizontal, this experiment shows that yes you can (if you have the space!)

Hey james, nice grow, kind of a SCROG net with bamboo :) I got some bamboo tomato trellises at the dollar store and found them quite useful, 3 for $2, bought a bunch and after trying them this round, they're staying in my room for a while. I call it a vertical SCROG, you can bend the colas through the squares, opens up the centre so got more shoots up through the centre, and use them for support later in the cycle, just an idea and cheap... I had limited options for LST in fabric pots so this was a good alternative...

Looking good!

I'm going to have to create something similar actually, some of the buds are so heavy, they can no longer support themselves and are starting to flop onto the leaf canopy. They have at least another 2 weeks of growing left yet, so are going to get even bigger yet!

You do have the space, I cannot recommend enough that if you are brave enough, fold the main stem over, repot if you need to and reposition it so its horizontal.

You will be amazed with the results. The plant adjusts and will give you so many more colas.

Not on this grow, but maybe on the next one.

Yeah, too late into flowering now, one of the plants only has about 2 weeks to go. But I noticed a couple of colas that are at 45 degrees or so wound through the trellis that have filled in with more bud than the other vertical one's. Looks like you're getting some nice results though. At what stage did you do the horizontal bends in yours?

I got given the plants when they were a few weeks old, maybe a couple of foot tall, they had both been topped in a couple of places I think.

I don't think the plant would take too kindly to just being bent straight over, it would probably take days of more and more pressure to do it without snapping the stem (although the really brave soul snap it horizontal, then tape it and let it heal, but I'm not that daring!) I needed to repot mine anyway, so just positioned the plant at an angle in the new pot.

Because it is tied down horizontal, the plant then decides to spend its energy making the side branches form new mains, that's where I bought in the two sticks either side to tie down each set of branches.

Once you do it, you suddenly realise the light coverage is so much better, the plant is not as tall and I have so many colas that I've only ever normally seen on the main stem (or stems when topped)

I'll stick another pic up tonight, wait till you see it! I've never had such a yield ever before.

Sounds like LST/super-cropping to the extreme. I have some plants going right now that I've done this to when they hit around week 5 and they're responding really well. Had to tape/support a couple of the super-cropped colas but they're bouncing back great. Decided to crank up the training with this next batch. Some pics would be great of you have them.

Really lazy pics, just to give an idea of how they are, you can only really see the top buds, all of the biggest ones have flopped down onto the leaf canopy as they are so heavy.

My mate was pestering me for an update too, so thought get it done then I can crash. Been in Maldives for last 8 days, so no spliff, about to make first one now and will then likely fall asleep on the sofa!

Yeah that's impressive for two indoor plants, very nice job. I'll have to step up my training game, nice to see an example like this, definitely worth training these things to the extreme for yield. Cheers.

Its curing nice, smokable already and hits really hard.

I'm going to do it again on the next one, only got one seed left, so "borrowing" a clone off my mate again to make up the second. Two different strains, but both will be horizontal like this one, I think I can clear 10oz per plant next time with some tweaks, mainly a net support structure.
