Root pruning ? Accidently topped one of my girls.

I purchase these containers yesterday, can someone tell me about root pruning does that mean trimming the roots from the bottom of these containers? I accidently topped my 2 wk seedling with 6 nodes while fimmingDSC00604.JPG . What is recommended given what I did to increase yield with more stems? :D

Ive trimmed my roots . If the plants roots are circling the pot its not unheard of to take a sharp blade and cut a quarter inch off the sides of your bound root ball while transplanting . im sure it can slow a plant down but when I did it the one plant I did it with out preformed the 2 that I left alone when transplanting.

I feel like the better thing to do would just to sort of break apart the roots a little so that they kinda untangle. I know that is what they do when planting Chrysanthemums... I'm sure this is much more effective than cutting them

yes you can benefit from it..i know some breeders that make fem seeds use root pruning in flower to manipulate the plants hormones to produce male pollen sacs...but I haven't heard of anyone pruning roots over being rootbound....all indoor plants get root bound imo..onless your growing 1 R 2 big ones with plenty room to strech out...when a plant is root bound instead of the roots growing out..they thickin up...thats why they need to be watered more often ...from the roots fattening up and taking in more...just my thought ..happy growing..

Simply just rough up the roots ,squeeze the booms of the plant roots loosen them up so they dont have root memory and grow small.

u do not understand how roots work . Or how the rootmass in a air pruning pot works . If ur wrapped around your pot breaking the dirt wont help you your already cluttered if u look up a pic of the two root masses next to eachother u will see how the roots grow when air pruned and not allowed to wrap the pot

Yes I always do a couple big ones . If you prune your roots its almost like topping a plant it creats new root systems and fatter roots

And im not saying to do it all willy nilly but if your starting a plant in a hard pot and the roots are circling the pot transplanting into a air prunining pot would be completely pointless .im talking a quarter inch off the sides . Or do u find the bound circled roots to help your plant hahaha if your plant is pot bound its an age old practice to run a sharp blade down your sides . It promotes more roots and allows them to reach out with ease and we all know more roots equalls for fruits .

What kind of pot is that any way .I havent seen one like that . For airpruning I highly recommend the fabric geopots . They work really well for me compared to a plastic pot

try not doing it ,,and see how much better they are ,,,tits suits you lol

lol 4-6 ounces on 2 footers ok buddy . I been growing for 20 years ,you will never get 6 ounces on 2 foot plants ,,see dont listen to the root cutter.

My last 2 I harvested 4.5 on one and just over 5 on the other my elnino is gonna be at least 6 ill take a pic for you and yes my plants only 2' tall
