Looking into general hydroponics brand nutes for when i switch out after this grow because advanced nutrients is simply too expensive.

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

What is the difference between FloraNova Grow + Bloom

and

FloraGro + FloraMicro + FloraBloom + Floralicious and all this different shit.

is it all the same idea or is there a huge difference. which path should i travel.

can someone with some experience hone in on this topic and explain to me why GH has 2 brands with very similar names?

FNG and FNB are basically the same as the 3 part micro stuff. Just use FNG at 5-6ml per gallon during veg, and FNB at 6ml per gallon for bloom.

I've done quite a few awesome grows in DWC buckets with it.

Also if you dont mind , let me know which of the 2 is better. Also whats the best way to go on Cal Mag? Should i go with General Organics CaMg+ or go with an off brand like Botanicare Cal Mag?

I always keep a bottle of Calmag (Botanicare) on hand for any super hungry strains. 5ml per gallon during bloom is fine, but if you go with FNG - FNB you wont need it.

im looking to use floranova series with soil AND hydro. from the research i've done GH flora series has similar if not better results than Advanced Nutes at 1/3 of the price. im definitely switching. Also i'm prolly gonna stop buying pro-mix, its getting pricey as well. atleast where im at anyways

Be a bit more gentle with the stuff if in soil. it's thick. Especially in Coco. If you're worried, measure your feedings to about 1300ppms-ish tops. I've really only ever run it in DWC.

should i use this setup:

  • FloraNova G+B
  • Flora Nectar
  • FloraKleen QT
  • Kool Bloom - Bloom Maximizer
  • Botanicare Cal MAG Plus
  • Bud Blood (Advanced Nutes P-K Booster -- 0-39-25) << (this is the questionable one)
would i be okay to mix bud blood into that setup?? It really works wonders but if i can't mix it with the setup i'd like to find a P-K booster that works as well.

well if i were to do that i would use Bud Blood for the Week 1 and 2 P-K booster and KooLBloom for week 4.

Bud Blood:
  • Expands flower creating space for protective resin drops to form
  • This proces "fluffs" up the yield and allows for faster drying
  • Reduces the risk of moulds/fungi growing within the flower
  • Only Use during the first week of flowering
  • NPK (0-39-25)

but from experience in the past with bud blood it can be used during weeks 1 & 2 respectively with great results but as long as it isn't going to effect anything i would love to keep it in my line up.

If you had any experience with this stuff we wouldn't be having this little confab. Despite what we think, supplements don't do as much as we would like them too. Marketing would have us believe if we pay for a bottle we get "this" or "that' we would get "this yield" or "this return" but, mostly what you end up with is a bottle of water.

I've used Flora Series 3-part with Pro-Mix HP (with 20% perlite added). I liked it *a lot*. Fed every 2 days. It's ph buffered which helped the medium's ph be stable (even though I used 1-2 Tbsp / gal dolomite, I think the ph buffering was a benefit). I used it with the so-called "useless" schedule[1].

What I didn't like was the *volume* of nutrients I was using. It seemed a little expensive and tedious measuring out all that stuff, especially for different plants at different stages of growth.

I considered Lucas Formula (which eliminates Part #1). Or, Flora Nova 2-part. I liked that it was more concentrated. Also that it has some additional non-synthetic stuff in it like fulvic acid. Also thought about GH Maxi Bloom (dry) because I didn't like the idea of everyone in the supply chain shipping water all over the place. Why not dry?

I ended up going to dry Grow More Sea Grow[2].

I also used Koolbloom Liquid and Dry. I used Liquid from early bloom all the way through late flower. Started about 2ml/gal and got to 5ml/gal after I could see calyxs in the buds. Continued at 4-5ml/gal to late bud. I did not reduce the Useless values while using liquid KB. If you see nute burn, reduce base nutes a little. But, I didn't have to.

Used 1.25g/gal powdered Koolbloom in the two weeks prior to going water only for 2 weeks. (I don't flush. Just water only and let the plant finish itself off, cannibalizing nutrients, etc.). I reduced base nutes by 50% per "useless."

I'm continuing to use Koolbloom dry/powdered with Grow More Sea Grow.

I also used Botanicare's CalMag+. If I needed to buy more, I'd try General Organics' product which has no nitrate (nitrogen). Mick941 recommended that.

I used Botanicare's Silica Blast. I bought GH's ArmorSi. Hydro guy said he thinks it works better.

Also use Botanicare's Liquid Karma and Alaska Kelp ($8 Home Depot).

One thing to be careful about: When I researched sentiment about Flora Nova 2-part, I read that it's not intended for all these add-ons. Maybe calmag if you use ro water to replace lost minerals. But, seemed like a few people said adding more stuff messed it up somehow. Also, someone said you had to shake it for a long time to get it consistent.

Normally people use GH 3-part's 3-2-1 (1-2-3 in bloom) at half-strength. So it's 7.5-5-2.5 ml/gal (for example). Useless is a grower who went higher and developed a schedule (including what to do when using a booster late in flower).

[2] It's about the same simplicity, quality and cost as Jack's Classic. It's more organic than Flora Nova. I notice a much better taste. I'd like to try something else, but for the $40-50 I paid for 12lbs total stuff (1 veg, 2 bud products) it's going to last about 2-3 years at about 5/8 tsp / gal. :)

I've backed off the quantities in that post, doing about 50-75% of what it says. I was fighting serious acidity in early flower. Thought it was my medium, not enough dolomite, etc. Switching to feed-water-feed or 50-75% strength every watering helped. Now I'm playing with which way is better.

Look into bud blaster. Instead of bud blood. It's made a huge difference in soil and I'm going to start using it week 5-6 in flood and drain. And now I can't tell you what exactly to use because everyone's got different recipes, but something to keep in mind are adding enzymes like cannazym and fulvic acid.

Bump!!

Any other suggestions on nutrient line / anything they've used and would highly recommend?

i haven't made a solid decision on what i'll be changing to at the end of this grow.

In another post you said you're leaving AN because you were having problems (suggested it could be something you were doing wrong)? What kind of problems are you having? That might influence your choice.

If I wanted problem-free growing, I'd do Flora Series (3-part) using the "useless schedule" (<<link) in 80% Pro-Mix HP, 20% Perlite. Add some dolomite, GH Koolbloom and Liquid Karma or GH Floralicious, you'd get very good results.

If it's about saving money, I'm really liking Grow More Sea Grow. It's about as cheap as MiracleGro, but has organics. The taste difference compared to synthetic is noticeable.

it most likely is something i'm doing wrong but i really dont care. Its mainly that AN has so many different lines and all more expensive than the last when in reality its just a scam 2 get you to spend more money. ive been looking into general hydroponics alot because i have a buddy who grows on it and he has nothing but good reviews for each and every GH product.
