having trouble connecting a/c

This is probably a really stupid question, but I can't connect my a/c to this cooling thermostat because of the way the plug is set up. Can I just use like another power strip or extension cord to plug it into the thermostat or does it have to be directly plugged into the a/c? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just use a short as possible cord that is the same wire size as the factory cord on your ac. why do you need another thermostat the ac should have one built in

I just needed something that would turn the a/c on when it goes over the desired temperature. The portable a/c that I have doesn't do that.

get as short a cord as you can find and make sure it is air conditioner rated!

this is specifically for AC otherwise you can have a fire!

9 Ft. Air Conditioner & Appliance Extension Cord, UL Listed
Nice! Thank you...I will purchase one of these. Thanks for all the input.

awesome, thanks for finding that. I have a fan in there but I keep it on all the time. I don't know if that's good or not.:-?
